Great discussion. Recent World Bank report says a huge section of the Indian poor has been moved up from extreme poverty. I have no doubt that at least some of that is true. In which case, how realistic is it to think there is extreme class disparity and 80% are being trampled upon and that progressives need to rally them etc. is it not better to educate and empower society so they get plugged into the capitalist frame work instead of romanticizing their struggles and hoping to bring about a revolution?
