    I had a near lightning strike on May 17, 2023. This shows the damage incurred and a review of the Grounding and Bonding of my ham shack.

    Living in Florida you get used to the weather. Protecting your expensive equipment requires not only a good insurance policy, but some good grounding practices. Even with these ideas in place, you are not guaranteed a 100% protective shield against Mother Nature.

    I Also Have up a Comet GP-9N & it has Ben Great..Seams to blow the rest out of the water..& i also used the string Trick & I Also Sprayed mine with a Couple of Good Clear Coats to Help/stop the splintering But I Also Used a Couple of Good Marine Grade Adhesive Lined 1.5'' Heat Shrink Tubing And Man O Man Does it Seal Up Good.. I wanted to do something after it was up for a Couple of Weeks & the Heat Shrink was Really Really On Their..& Honestly Worked Better Than I Ever Thought it Would lol. I am A Major Fan Of The GP-9..it Works Great With my Yaesu Ft-991 haha i want a Good HF ant now..Im leaning Twords a Hustler 5btv but i really want 6m also so i still dono..lol. Thanks For Sharing ..I took a indirect Strike to my Shack Years ago an Splintered the ant at the Bottom ! My Coax Looked & Tested Fine To But When i Cut The End off To b Sure it Was Black...

      There was a 100% coverage on the electronics, (minus my $500 deductible.)
