What's the value of a South Pole at the sale barn??
You can butcher any breed at any stage or condition that ate grass an sell it to an uninformed consumer as "Grrrass fed beef". It could be sickly, old or cull animal, hey but it ate grass.
If ain't the right kind, right color, you won't get top price at the sale barn.
2 year old Angus cross steers fat off of grass ,finished on cracked corn is what I love as freezer beef. What we don't butcher will bring good $ at the livestock market / sale barn. I believe the South Pole won't fair to well at the sale barn. Am I wrong?. The reason I bring this up is that I would hate to see folks mislead or misinformed on purchasing South Pole cattle. I don't dislike them but think folks/ potential buyers ought to get a clear picture of the marketibility of these exotic type breeds.
