I’m an avid waterfowler. 61 years ago seems almost like another world. Waxed cotton jackets and hats (bucket and Jones). No camo. Wow. Pleasant music. It is a different world.

look at those old boys out there in small boats with tiny motors with thin cotton cloves laying down in the mud with no blind or layout in canvas coats with no camo!!!! those were better and tougher men! god bless the world war 2 generation! USA!
About 10 years ago I went out duck hunting with a waterman on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I had on polypro underwear, wool pants, shirt and socks. Over the shirt I had a wool commando sweater. I had a Columbia set of bibs and a Columbia Parka. Had on some nice gloves and an insulated hat. I don't know what the temperature was but as we crossed the bay I swear I thought I would surely die from hypothermia. The waterman had a pair of cotton duck overalls on top of blue jeans and a flannel shirt. He had on a ball cap. He was about 65 years old. The wind caught his hat and blew it into the drink. He spun the skiff around and scooped it up and put it back on his head. Minutes later ice cycles hung off the hat and he never batted an eye. I figured if he could take it then I could too. I soon felt toasty warm just looking at his hat.
Had the wrong camo, no spinners, wrong boat etc and yet still managed a few.. lucky for us we now have the most waterfowl in history according to the DNR and they are experts so must be true🤪
