I’m with Gil. Trae and Wemby are young, they could build another spurs dynasty for the next 10 years. I think they fit each perfectly. It would be lob city for wemby, and when they double team wemby he can kick it out to trae young for the 3
What star, especially a guard, wants to go play with a 40 year old LeBron and be the 3rd option, getting blamed for losing, while receiving ZERO credit for winning. And then LeBron retires and Lakers are done. Wemby will make the playoffs every year starting year 3 at worst. With Trae, Spurs are a play in team next year.
Try to look at it the way normal people do.

TP kept his spot because he was one of the best slashers in the League. Before TP, Spurs PGs were facilitators who could shoot and that is basically Tre but on steroids. Pop would love that.

Trae is young he has the potential with Pop and the spurs to be an even better player at his prime, more disciplined, more creative, more mature. If he goes to LA, I'am pretty sure its not gonna work. This player needs stability and they forget one thing, they talk about Trae and business developpment but so few about the game and his real long terme opportunity of rings, Wemby is the best teamate for that.
THey also forget something, his dad and him are Spurs fans, they have San Antonio in their blood and mind, they spend so much time into trying to show their interest in this franchise. He wants to go there period.

Trae was born and raised in Texas and he was a Spurs fan when he was a kid so if he can be a part of a Wemby/Trae combo, he will do. Spurs will have one or two top picks in the next draft and they know how you can build a team. If he has Sarr or Risacher, Pop won't tank anymore and the team record will be a big surprise for many people as soon as next season.

Trae needs to paired alongside a big SG. Him and Dejounte get cooked night in and night out because they’re probably the smallest backcourt in the NBA.

Not only does Vassell fit the mold, but the pick and roll game with Trae and Wemby would be crazy. Trae ran that game between him and capela to the ECF’s. It would be even better with Wemby
Also any defensive liability Trae young can be is made up by how good and long wemby is on defense
My advice to any player considering going to the Lakers is to wait until they get rid of that 🤡 of a GM they got, Rob Pelinka. They are in a terrible position moving forward. Lebron is leaving soon and they have literally traded away all of their draft picks. That means that they wont be able to build around AD through the draft, nor be able to trade for anyone noteworthy.

Gil is the only one that has NBA sense those other whoever’s don’t have a clue that Trae wants to win long term like the core 3 of the Spurs Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili. Everyone made decent points. I would add that the Lakers health this season has gone as well as possible and they are still a play-in team. They would have to hope that Lebron and AD'S health stays the same for 2 seasons because they would have traded all their assets for Trae.
Spurs aren't good now, but could be getting two top 10 picks this year, have cap space, and have all the leverage on the Hawks because they own their 1st rounders. Hawks can't really tank unless SA sends their picks back.

Man, playing for the Lakers is a double-edged sword. Look at what happened to Russ. And I say this as a Laker fan, Lakers is not gonna win this year especially with Darvin Ham as a coach. The only reason why Lebron is not moving is probably because he already established his empire in LA. Also, I’m not even sure if he even wants Bronny to get drafted by the Lakers especially if Darvin Ham is still the one coaching.
Spurs, absolutely. Smaller market, less eyes on you, better head coach, you get to play with Wemby and you're both young players. Lakers on the other hand have a LeBron who won't be playing in 5 years as opposed to Wemby, Darvin Ham is a bad coach, the Lakers have zero defense outside of AD and Trae doesn't help with that anyways. People think being in L.A. is cool until you are the scapegoat for all of their mistakes and problems, just like Russ was. L.A. is a toxic place to play professional basket.
Spurs. You’ll play alongside Wemby and have an opportunity to increase your Career stats possibly on par with Stockton-Malone. Much more publicity, more national games and most importantly win more games.

His best chance of winning a title short-term would be with the Lakers. Even after LBJ retires, he still has AD and he will have a chance to become the face of the franchise or at least one of the two that carried the Lakers into the future. Long-term, the Spurs would be the better bet even if Wemby never gets much better than he is now.
