Those engines are bullet proof, when I was selling KTMs in the 90’s we had a customer who was a motorcycle courier that used a 620sc to do deliveries around the city his bike was still running strong with 170,000km’s on the clock. Cool build
Old faithful LC4, that's my 660 SMC in my profile picture came standard with the FCR carb thing barks. And yes KTM 540sx they made a prototype and qualified for supercross and it looked awesome too would love to see some footage of that monster

Cr 500 would eat it those .Cr 500 was the only bike I rode that actually scared me I'm light so I was like.a flag hanging off the back of it .

I have a 1996 KTM RXC 620. 4900 original miles. In the 3rd owner and 2nd owner really beat on it. Shes being rebuilt at the moment
what a beast, i love the lc4 i have the new 690 supermoto those motors are works of art as a single cylinder thumper
I rode one of these when I was a teenager , in Aus it was so damn fast on the speedo it would do 160kph the left hand kick starter was that hard to start ! We use to tow it with a Ute and roll start it haha

I owned a 620sx it was a beast to ride full power in the Woods but at very heavy bike to handle when it was stalled in sand or similair situations. It was a lovely thing to ride. Would like to own one once more
I own a 620 SC which is essentially the "road legal" version of the SX over here in Germany.
It is such an insanely pure and fun bike.

LC4 engine was the rescue for insolvent KTM factory. Huge hub resulting in strong torque, very reliable.
I feel like its one of them engines that just run forever, one of them that could have 250 hours on and still ride like brand-new, looks so sick :)
We have two 640s in our Garage, one is extensively tuned, the other stock. Contrary to what people write here these bikes are absolutely not indestructible, actually quite the opposite, but when treated well they hold up well. The engine is capable of around 75 hp with a full treatment, so including camshafts, piston, head porting and fine balancing.
I'd say the number one address in the world actually is APR Tuning out of Germany, Close to where I live.
Unfortunately spare parts do start to become rare, but they were built a lot and people are starting to reproduce stuff too

Awesome bike!! very popular here in Greece...LC4s are indestructible (not like an XR650R or other Japanese big thumpers of course) as long as you ride them hard, they don't like low revs and lazy riding around

Man much respect to the Wizard that is tidy as hell, it's got to have more than 60 brake horse power cause I asked the shop I bought my 07 KTM 525 exc how much hp has it got & he said 60 to 65 bhp so that's got to have more & the LC4 is practically indestructible.
I got a 15 tooth front sprocket & a 45 tooth rear sprocket & is good for 160km/h.

My KTM 660 SMC which is like ultimate stock version of these bikes (besides the 660 factory reps) makes 55hp stock, they're more about the torque but you can get some crazy horsepower figures out of these motors

@@ianrobinson525 stock 525 exc makes closer to 50hp but Dyno numbers aren't really important as they're just a tuning tool and every Dyno is different so they'll give you different numbers from Dyno to Dyno. 525s are quick and light and would still give a bike like mine a very good run for its money as they're light too

I have the 2000 620 supercomp SM version, here in Portugal in the same year only was registered that 2 bikes, its an awesome bike, it really scares you, that lc4’s don’t have mercy for the riders 🤣

Would anyone know where I could find an exhaust for my 2006 620 LC4 , the headers have a few rust holes from winter rides on salted roads? I had a 1998 625SX LC4 with a legal street tile in Canada, no E-start or battery, just enough juice to run the headlight and blinkers.
That sounds good. ! Brings back my dr 500 sounds. But it’s nicer. Lol. 1 person don’t like it. Ugh y watch it .... oh well can’t fix stupid The rest of us love it.
