The he use some protection glove with free fingers and its nearly the same... I would prefer a disc or square of more than a foot size that he cannot hold it and even to big for clamp it in a vise! Further it has to have an uneven bottom for avoid to clamp it plane on a desk.

Yea, for a house something like this would be pointless. Peoplenare not normally going to pick a door lock even if its easy. They are going to just look for the house that has an unlocked door.

They are security pins. The irregular shapes cause them to stay or fall out place when the tension bar is active. They help to frustrate anyone who is trying to pick the lock. If they were just solid cylindrical pins, it would be a complete breeze for even novice lock-pickers. But this one was specifically made to be difficult to pick. The fact that this guy made such quick work of so many different kinds and shapes is a testament to his absolute skill. So, 14/15 security pins, all driver pins are customized, looks like 3 different spring types too. This is probably better than any nuclear weapons lock. (who am I kidding, those were set to 000000 as the code for a while).
I love how each pin has it's own security features, and he's like "I guess that's an (x modified) type of pin." Like it didn't even matter. Gotta pick 'em all!
I couldn't keep my eyes off that tensioner: it's seemingly at right angles at some points. Especially noticeable when counter-rotation forces it back straight until you can set and retension the core. V v nice intricate pick work!

Absolutely unreal! Great job on both ends for the lock. No one would have ever thought of using the core itself as a follower. Lpl is amazing, but there are allot of other great lock enthusiasts out there that are uncredited. Props you all of you as well!

I can't be the only one to appreciate how good this channel is that LPL actually has people brainstorming to put together prototype locks to see how hard they are to defeat by him.
Picking this is difficult enough under these ideal conditions. I imagine it’d be incredibly challenging in the real world, with the lock installed in a door - the ergonomics would be insane. I wonder if they could add sidebars and trap pins with “deadlock troughs” (Royal Guardian’s term)?

This was an awesome lock and as always, an impressive picking session! I am a total noob at this and have just started picking my own locks, just for the fun of it. Keep up the good work!
After giving likes to several commenters, I summarize their repeated responses in my own: Wish these could be on door locks, but yeah the pins would be too fragile for normal use. A reassembly video does SOUND cool, but as an engineer I’d probably get frustrated empathially with you cuz of how tricky that might be. J&T did a great job! This lock would likely be hard to pick in the wild. LPL’s voice sounds restful to many viewers. I’ve felt that way when my mom was reading scripture. We just like hearing a calm Voice basically work out problems that we find tricky, and that’s not a bad thing. That quick rotating spring loaded thingy would probably have helped bypass locks 2 and 3, but it would’ve defeated the purpose of the challenge as 2/4 of the commenters also stated. And for the most UNIQUE comment by IDR who but I wish I did: “When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought LPL was coming out with his own line of lock themed soaps.” Lol for real on that one! Yeah, Great job, LPL! Hope this isn’t spam.
Amazing how quick you picked through this wonderful 3in1 challenge lock and I can say that first hand :). The driver number 5 in lock 3 with the rings is a Dom-S pin and looks like an original :). Getting this lock back together was probably the 3rd big challenge ;), but it was really worth to take it apart :). Thanks a lot, that was really a cool video :).

I've found this channel around 2months ago randomly and was impressed since the 1st video I've seen and now I'm watching this old stuff regulary. This amazing video I've watched today was like watching a crime for me 😱 I was wishing our LPL hero would solve this riddle and the other part of me was wishing he couldn't do it. (yeah 50:50) 😂 Tell us he needed 40 min at the 1st try and hearing the trembling voice during the video, well not really trembling maybe better wording is "not his normal" voice, made me feel the real challenge. I'm still biting my nails 😅😅😅

@@privateger What about a lock with master wafers underneath a slightly smaller driver pins that drops down into drilled holes on the side of the cylinder unless the wafer is there to keep it up? I mean.. sure, it's not -impossible- to pick... But are you really going to know which depth to set the pin at to avoid the trap for all pins in a row? It'd be virtually impossible.

O my gosh, this is the first time I have seen you struggle with opening a lock. Very impressive, who ever made this lock needs to go into business making locks. It's 2am, I've been binging lockpicking videos, and all I can say for myself is that lockpicking looks so satisfying for my ADHD need to have something to do with my hands while I'm trying to concentrate on things.
And, since we are on the topic, you have a variety of equipment such as your pinning tray, this super cool flexible mini-light I saw once and other stuff. Could you do a video on all of your tools and links to where you got them? Finally, you appear to have a huge lock collection. Do you have a system of organization? Did you just make it up?

I have a lock design in mind that's kind of along the lines of this. The difference is I was thinking of eight separate keyways, each had their own pinning that needed to all be depressed and under tension all at the same time to turn. the entire 8 keyways would be a incredibly Jagged 90+ degree turns everywhere. On top of that having an actual door that blocks the key way and has a small RFID chip receiver embedded inside behind it. the key has the chip in the very front of it so when you touch it to the front that detects the key and opens and then you can insert the eight keyed key. Also on the side of each of the keys on the Eight Keys they'll be another set of 6 pins on both sides of each of them. Effectively increasing the entire assembly that having 24 individual locks, adding up to a 144 pins. aside from the single whole lock that you're opening

i would attatch a sensor to the first row when its unlocked it enediatly sends me a notification on my phone. that way by the time i get there they would be barly starting on the 3rd row.
As for ideas for videos, I for one routinely wonder how you will possibly reassemble some of these? Perhaps a series where you are putting back together gutted locks from some simple ones to like this nightmare? Do you lubricate them, put in new springs, etc. ???

intrigued... well, first time seeing this type of lock, such a clever design(than that of Bowley, at least) yet kinda bulky and colossal-some... Here are some of my thoughts on its working methods: 1) with the correct mating key, the key could extract at either position, at 12, 4, or 8 clock position with increasing picking difficulty maximal at 8, since the bible at this position has the most complicated and sophisticated driver/upper pins .. 2) however, when it comes to picking/manipulating opening without a proper key, those key/bottom pins are thus resting at the lower end of the pin holes of the core, leaving behind certain gap underneath the shear line, which enables the driver pins to re-enter after the core is rotating every 120 degrees meeting the next lock bible, this will reset the lock picking as a results of re-arrangements of the pin stacks.. which means the lock has to be picked three times in order to rotate just one full circle.. 3) this would greatly hinder the lock from being picked when the cylinder works with a locking mechanism that needs multiple rotations to finish the throw of a dead latch or locking bar... 4) the feature of multiple key extraction positions will also make this lock application as a key switch lock( in elevators or other electric control settings).
@@ashleyfalcon125 from what I've gathered I have a msterlock padlock i practice on every pin sets in order until I think 3 and 4. So i can set 1,2,4,3 and it pops open the lock can be easily picked with a flat metal shim its pathetic
This would work as an actual lock by using a bound cam system. I've seen something similar used in a steel door once. The lock itself was a normal Euro lock, however, because of the bolt system (3 locks per each side of the door) it had a differentiated cam plate on the back, you actually had to move it 3 times to open it with another lock acting as the lock that locked this mechanism. Methinks it was a DIY thing, still, pretty nifty. Regular Joe would never figure out how to open it.

Normally the order is: picking locks, running, racing away from the cops, but feel free to do it in whatever order you want haha

Criminals do not pick locks to get inside homes, they use brute force to bypass needing to spend time doing that.
Been burgled twice my life, both times they just took a brick to a window.
Most criminals don't rely on picking locks. They can break a window or rely on an owner's negligence in not locking their own doors.

The tension rods are designed to do that so that you don’t overtension it a whole bunch

Cross shaped build from 4 locks, when the key pins of the opposite lock are dropping into the keyway would greatly improve the pick resistance.
Always impressed with your experience and knowledge of locks.And the way you can "feel" And "picture" whats going on inside the lock as you pick.

Amazing how quick you picked through this wonderful 3in1 challenge lock and I can say that first hand :). The driver number 5 in lock 3 with the rings is a Dom-S pin and looks like an original :). Getting this lock back together was probably the 3rd big challenge ;), but it was really worth to take it apart :). Thanks a lot, that was really a cool video :).

What about a lock with master wafers underneath a slightly smaller driver pins that drops down into drilled holes on the side of the cylinder unless the wafer is there to keep it up?
I mean.. sure, it's not -impossible- to pick...
But are you really going to know which depth to set the pin at to avoid the trap for all pins in a row?

O my gosh, this is the first time I have seen you struggle with opening a lock. Very impressive, who ever made this lock needs to go into business making locks. If the you have trouble picking it, I can imagine what grief that any above average lock picker would have. Thanks for all your videos, this one proves you are legit. I was starting to wonder but now seeing you honestly have a bit of difficulty confirms to me this channel is on the up and up.

It's 2am, I've been binging lockpicking videos, and all I can say for myself is that lockpicking looks so satisfying for my ADHD need to have something to do with my hands while I'm trying to concentrate on things.

I use LPL as my asmr before bed.
great voice to fall asleep too... works almost as good as the home shopping network.
I have a lock design in mind that's kind of along the lines of this.
The difference is I was thinking of eight separate keyways, each had their own pinning that needed to all be depressed and under tension all at the same time to turn. the entire 8 keyways would be a incredibly Jagged 90+ degree turns everywhere. On top of that having an actual door that blocks the key way and has a small RFID chip receiver embedded inside behind it. the key has the chip in the very front of it so when you touch it to the front that detects the key and opens and then you can insert the eight keyed key.
Also on the side of each of the keys on the Eight Keys they'll be another set of 6 pins on both sides of each of them. Effectively increasing the entire assembly that having 24 individual locks, adding up to a 144 pins. aside from the single whole lock that you're opening

i would attatch a sensor to the first row when its unlocked it enediatly sends me a notification on my phone. that way by the time i get there they would be barly starting on the 3rd row.
As for ideas for videos, I for one routinely wonder how you will possibly reassemble some of these? Perhaps a series where you are putting back together gutted locks from some simple ones to like this nightmare? Do you lubricate them, put in new springs, etc. ???

intrigued... well, first time seeing this type of lock, such a clever design(than that of Bowley, at least) yet kinda bulky and colossal-some... Here are some of my thoughts on its working methods:
1) with the correct mating key, the key could extract at either position, at 12, 4, or 8 clock position with increasing picking difficulty maximal at 8, since the bible at this position has the most complicated and sophisticated driver/upper pins ..
2) however, when it comes to picking/manipulating opening without a proper key, those key/bottom pins are thus resting at the lower end of the pin holes of the core, leaving behind certain gap underneath the shear line, which enables the driver pins to re-enter after the core is rotating every 120 degrees meeting the next lock bible, this will reset the lock picking as a results of re-arrangements of the pin stacks.. which means the lock has to be picked three times in order to rotate just one full circle..
3) this would greatly hinder the lock from being picked when the cylinder works with a locking mechanism that needs multiple rotations to finish the throw of a dead latch or locking bar...
4) the feature of multiple key extraction positions will also make this lock application as a key switch lock( in elevators or other electric control settings).

@@ashleyfalcon125 from what I've gathered I have a msterlock padlock i practice on every pin sets in order until I think 3 and 4. So i can set 1,2,4,3 and it pops open the lock can be easily picked with a flat metal shim its pathetic
Judging from the few videos I've seen on this channel,
this lock is insane!
This would work as an actual lock by using a bound cam system. I've seen something similar used in a steel door once. The lock itself was a normal Euro lock, however, because of the bolt system (3 locks per each side of the door) it had a differentiated cam plate on the back, you actually had to move it 3 times to open it with another lock acting as the lock that locked this mechanism. Methinks it was a DIY thing, still, pretty nifty. Regular Joe would never figure out how to open it.
