She wrote the lyrics for All I Want for Christmas is You in like 15 minutes. Walter Afanasieff was also right there writing up the music in the studio.
Both National anthem renditions weree superb. However, Mariah Carey had a huge load on her back. It was the first superbowl after 9/11 so the NFL had to have an awe inspiring minute of silent and a careful, famous and talented vocalist. She was meant to inspire people and give them a tiny spark to light the public's patriotism. As you can hear in the recording the moment she hits the whistle everybody stood screaming, and cheering, she provided a sense of safety to them and a way to make a union. Pure patriotism
I remember Mariah was singing Hero live a lot after 9/11. I cried when she sang it for that first responder telethon.
AND she was going through hell after everyone made fun of her melt down and the buyout contract, she wasn’t mentally stable

maybe because celine has not really done anything recent-sounding whereas, mariah had hits from the 2000's-2010 and she's the "queen of Christmas" too so. and ofc, kids know about whitney since she's hyped as "the voice" by everyone in the music industry (she's most certainly is tho). celine isn't really talked about much by anyone i guess???

Take it as a from of entertainment rather than objective analysis. She was before your time, but she reworked the Star Spangled Banner, for us in the states. "We shall behold Him" was one of her greatest hits. She was classically trained, her voice is astonishing, in my opinion. There is no need to review her, just hear her while you are here. You will neve unhear the majesty, of her voice.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious...their age difference & different levels of experience. I love both but Ari has a ways to go to be truly compared to Mariah. Also, I didn't see your whole video, so you may have said this...Ariana doesn't try to mimic Mariah. She puts her own spins on covers. She also plays homage to Mariah (as she should). I've seen both in concert. Mariah will sing in full voice for 2 hours straight and Ariana sang for about one. Part of the reason would be Ariana's smaller catalogue. Thanks for another great post. I haven't seen you in awhile and was going to search you today. I love your shows.

Ofcourse Ariana is not copying Mariah. Somewhere over the rainbow was the first song Ariana had ever sung, she was like 4 that's why it means a lot to her. Ariana also loves christmas and she likes to perform during christmas, and back then didn't have her own christmas songs so she would cover the hit songs one of them being last christmas.
Both Ariana and Mariah have the best Christmas pop songs but in my opinion Ariana’s are better like Santa Tell Me is a banger. Yeah Last Christmas is a cover but she made it her own and it’s amazing

How can you say they are equally talented? It is not true. Starting from the range. Mariah can sing in a low register and in a high higher register.
