    I love doctors. they work so hard, the amount of stress they are able to take in is immense. I cant even imagine the amount of mental comprehension and strength one needs to be an ER doctor. respect.

    I deeply feel the respect, gratitude, and the loneliness of doctors who have to overcome mental and physical difficulties by themselves in my mind when I saw the daily lives of surgeons and thoracic surgeons through videos. I'm overwhelmed by all the emotions. I hope you are always healthy and happy with your family.

      He's being quite calm about it. At least one of those patient's were quite sick (i.e. knocking on death's door from a heart attack). ER docs see an average of 2 patients per hour. His shift seems to be a 10 hr shift. They've edited out/did not have permission to show a majority of his cases. Also, that procedural sedation for the shoulder dislocation locks up a huge amount of resources for a long period of time, so all in all, he's not showing his stress, but damn, that looked like a fairly stressful shift to me. He also had a fair number of EMS arrivals (which tend to be quite sick on average).

    • @uptempo5318
      @uptempo5318 Před 3 lety +1

      definitely not. ER medicine (aka being an ER physician) is known to be the quietest, calmest medical specialty. ER physicians usually don't have a lot of work to do and actually spend a lot of time relaxing during shifts. It's a great lifestyle specialty that allows you to spend time with your family etc.

    • @spankyumm3
      @spankyumm3 Před 3 lety +2

      @@uptempo5318 lol, well you're right about spending time with family anyway. Reasonable amount of free time outside of work given the lack of call.

      @@uptempo5318 Ummmm. That largely depends where you work. Not every ER is sleepy. The other month I shadowed at a very busy urban ER and the attending doctor checked on at least 1 patient every 10 minutes, in between double checking his residents' work and accepting transfers from smaller ERs.

  • @vm8899
    @vm8899 Před 2 lety +3

    I don't want to work in the ER, but because i just finished med school the stupid law in my country states that i have to work as a ER doctor for 6 months. It's so stupid.
    Btw 2:01: ST elevation, MI, bravo for the doctor who diagnosed the patient almost immediately 👏
