    Wallace Ford sort of reminds me of Spencer Tracy. I first noted him in "A Patch of Blue", playing the nasty drunken "Pa" who at least had a bit more of a heart than the heartless Shelly Winters character. Now that I see him in some of his earlier films I find him to be quite likeable and not at all a bad actor regardless of the roles played.

    I'm sorry, but after watching these old movies , I cannot think of one true actor or writer we have today. All we have are computer geeks trying to recreate everything and leaving nothing to the imagination. Comedians today know they are not funny so they pack each sentence with street language, cursing and xxx rated sexual content, that way the drunk and ignorant will laugh, lol. It's rare , if not impossible, to find a movie rated "G" today that adults would find entertaining. Even cartoons are "PG" at best. Yet here we have all these time tested classics. Why can't Hollywood learn from this. I think the devil took control of Hollywood, lol

    • @allanmacmillan7823
      @allanmacmillan7823 Před 2 lety

      Kenneth...if you have a television, there are are channels dedicated to "clean" family-friendly programming. As a rule, they aren't financially successful. Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and Redd Foxx were wildly successful comedians that used sex and profanity in their routines to the delight of millions. Unless you've been living under a rock for the last 50 years, our culture has changed. Movies, for the most part, are a reflection of society and, typically, the dialogue is written so that the audience will understand it's meaning. If a few words offend you that intensely, you will be unable to attend movies, engage in athletic competition, join the military, work in an office or, essentially, interact with any humans. I'm not saying you have to learn to swear, but you need to learn how to deal with it. Psychologists have also found that the use of profanity is an effective and liberating tool in releasing frustration. After all, it you miss a 3-foot putt to lose the U.S. Open...yelling "Oh, heck!" ain't gonna cut the mustard.

    • @kennethlongsr4009
      @kennethlongsr4009 Před 2 lety

      @@allanmacmillan7823 I was speaking of entertainment that you can watch with your family. I attend many athletic events , from high school to professional ,with my kids and grandchildren but don't hear everyone cursing and swearing like I was on a construction site.
      Comedians like Sagat and Murphy play to the uneducated minds. Movies use sex today to get money now instead of entertainment and of course kids are happy with that. We have steadily lowered our standards and we are now seeing the results of that with our future generations of leaders. Teaching grade school children that they can choose their gender, having gender free bathrooms in schools. They saw the results of that quickly in Va. when that boy raped those girls. Society needs limits set ,or it is no longer a society. We didn't have school shootings when I was in high school in the 70's. Yet every pickup in the parking lot had a rifle or two in the gun rack during hunting season. Psychologists are relating this to video games and movies now. Its our own fault. Each generation wanted to make life better for their children than what they had. But we went too far. Children have no morales, no work ethic, drugs are an easy escape. Attendance in churches has dropped dramatically over the last 60 years. Violence and crime have risen at the same dramatic rate. Things were not perfect 70+ years ago when these movies were made but they show that classy entertainment that is still enjoyed today can be made without nudity, profanity and extreme violence. When the bad guy was shot, he fell We didn't need to see his head explode, lol.

    • @allanmacmillan7823
      @allanmacmillan7823 Před 2 lety

      @@kennethlongsr4009 I respect your opinion Kenneth, though I disagree. A universal example would be that preachers' children tend to be "wilder" than many of their peers. If you deny people of certain things (sex, alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.), it only serves to make them more attractive. The toothpaste is already out of the tube. Try putting it back in. After all...It isn't Hollywood's responsibility to raise our children...it's ours.
