Great insight into the top level of uk athletics! Loved the interview snippets, nice work mate 🙌🏻
Thanks mate, was a great event to be a part of!
I'm in Canada and so jealous of the running culture in the UK. The Tonbridge lads seem like a good group.
Ah yeah the UK club running scene is top notch! They’re good lads 🤝🏻
Nice relay run! Cool to hear from the teammates beforehand. Y'all crushed it!
Thank you sir! It was a great first outing with the team!
Awesome, awesome, awesome insight - barracking from Aus 🎉
Thank you sir! The UK club scene is hard to beat!
Great video. Loved that one. 2nd fastest in the 9th team at the national road relays is some achievement.
The 12 Stage event in April is even bigger and better than this IMO
I reckon racing for a team like this will give you that extra 2% you felt you lacked at Cardiff and elsewhere.
Seeing as you're probably the only person in the running world I've not inflicted my 12 Stage story on here goes...
2007. Running for Holmfirth Harriers. Our leg 1 runner, a 29 min 10k man, finished 5th. I was on leg 2. On that first uphill a young Johnny Mellor came breezing past like he was on a Sunday jog.
I had the run of my life, equivalent to low 16s 5k and 'only dropped' 16 places😂
Insane standard.
The team aspect can help you dig deep that’s for sure! I’m really looking forward to the 12 stage, much more of a chance for things to go wrong for teams haha!
Sounds familiar John! Looks like I only did the 12 stage once as somehow my then club ESM qualified. "Fortunately" we had no super stars to follow so I was able to have a race with the back markers. Even so you do feel a bit like a "jogger" even in 16 5K form in these events.
Loved the relay vlog, and thanks for the shout out bro! Looked like a great event and you and the new team smashed it! 👊🏼 Hopefully I’ll be over this injury sooner rather than later and have some running news of my own shortly!
No worries si! Take it easy mate 🤝🏻
Congratulations Cole and team Tonbridge, i was surprised no-one mentioned AFD as potential winners , i haven't been following club athletics like i used to , but they were my local club for years and dominant on road and x country across the age groups, great coverage and really do enjoy the team events, looks like you have joined a great club, brilliant 9th place on national level,
Thanks Jen! Apparently there was an AFD wedding on the same day which reduced the strength of their team, and also I had some inside knowledge on who was running so I didn’t think they’d cause Leeds or C&C any issues!! AFD are unbeatable on the women’s side tho that’s for sure!
Well done on your leg. Solid effort for sure. I understand foreign athletes must be registered with UKA at the start of the year to compete in events like this and BAL etc etc. We usually get a list of them for Power of 10. I heard said athlete's club knew he was therefore not eligible but choose to field him anyway and so the whole team was DQ'ed. Bit odd to say the least. Can't honestly think I would want to give up a day for a run round that did not count as it were.
Thanks Tim. Yep, one of the TAC members is super into the rules and regulations so he mentioned to me on the day. As cool as it was to see Stewy in person, the rules have got to be followed I guess! As much of it might’ve been a strange decision, if the team are all in agreement I guess they can do what they want haha… not sure I’d travel all the way up for a DQ though personally but would be proper cool to be on a team with an Olympian so I might be persuaded 🤣 thanks Tim!
Tonbridge beat you to uploading this! Been waiting intently for the video from your personal perspective. You’re definitely one of the best running channels, and definitely my favourite when it comes to entertainment.
Faster isn’t always better ;) unless it’s a race haha. Thanks man appreciate it 🙏🏻
love your vids man
Thank you bro!
The national road relays at Sutton Park are just amazing events, especially the 12 stage. I remember watching Rob Denmark in 1994 setting the 3rd fastest ever time for the long leg, he made it look so easy! A few years later an extremely young Mo Farah was running. Great days. Glad to see it still survives. Does Bud Baldaro still jog round the bourse urging on his many runners?
I don’t know who that is I’m afraid mate! I can’t wait for the 12-stage 😃
Wow 2 guys even sub 17 on that course. Callum only 3rd overall seems like the man has been very busy winning WC medals :).
Haha he sure has been very busy 🤣 thanks mate
Some quick times in there!... Hallamshire Harriers dominate all the races round here, so if that's the level required I'd have a lot of work to do! 😅C'mon Coleee!
I don’t actually know where they finished overall haha, behind us I think ;) thanks buddy
See you at Manchester Cole 🎉
hopefully! I've come down with man flu!!!
@@ColeRunning noooo !
I like your videos, they make me smile, they are natural and motivating and it's because of you 😄
Great group and result 😉
BTW
I used to live in Birmingham 😏
Ah thanks so much!
My ex gf used to live in Birmingham so that was quite a treck, used to enjoy the bullring!!
Your 'really slow' first km pace is my absolute flat out for 1km 🙂
Haha sorry buddy 😃
