I use the Scwalbe Marathon plus tires on both my bikes. I live in the desert southwest where we have goat head thorns everywhere. These tires are great. People will often complain about the extra weight on these tires, as they are a little heavier than other tires, but I always laugh about people who will spend outrageous amounts of money trying to make their bikes lighter, when they are overweight. It is probably better to lose 20 lbs than get a tire that is 100 grams lighter
I like and use the amazing marathon plus on the road. Don't like the tour plus as it gets thorns in the gaps and wear centre quickly and gives a worse ride due to less air volume yet offers not enough off road grip. Smart Sam are much better for gravel or off road. I would like to see a more off road capable moto x tyre
