When I was a little girl,maybe 9 or 10, I started watching football games on TV with my father, who took the time to explain the basics of the game. This was many years ago, when they still showed some band pregame and halftime shows. We happened to watch an Ohio State game together, and I saw the script Ohio for the first time. He explained it was a tradition, and that it was a very great honor to be the tuba player who got to dot the I. I remember that afternoon every time I see the script Ohio. Thank you for posting. I was at the MSU game in 2016, I have a picture of script Ohio with a guy’s hat in front of me saying “Undisputed National Champions”. Going to be back this November for the Michigan game. Excited to be back there in person.
I just noticed when they are doing the O, some of the students on the inside fist bump the students coming from outside. There is a lot of fist bumping going on throughout the formation of the script if you pay attention.
I must say, I admire the Iowa team standing at attention during the national anthem, OSU players have their heads up their ##$&@*. That’s why I watch the great band and turn off the football.
I have the pregame and game recorded from the television feed. I went back and watched the feed of the National Anthem and did not see the Ohio State players disrespecting the National Anthem. They were all quietly standing at attention. Please give specific examples of OSU players who acted like they heads up their heads up their @#sea. I bet you thought that nobody would call you out on this since the band video does not show the players. Please name names of the players, otherwise it sounds like you are making things up. The OSU players were very respectful during the National Anthem.
This isn't just an Ohio State tradition, it's an American tradition and legend. I get goosebumps every time I see the pregame. Respectfully, CU Buff.
