#Daily Drum Exercises is a 52-week study plan and each week we'll cover a different style.
This week, we present our first Latin rhythm, Bossa Nova from Brazil. Most Latin styles originate in percussion and have been adapted to drums over the years. For this reason, coordination is more challenging and can take some time to develop. In the next few exercises we'll focus on cross-stick tapping. These exercises can be played with the drumstick as well as with #Bass Brooms, #Rods (bamboo stick drumsticks) or even with your hands to get different dynamics. To make the exercises easier to understand, let's make some terms clear; Crosstick, Rim Click, Cross Stick or Rim Stick are the same thing, it's the way we extract a clef sound on the drums using the rim of the snare drum.
Again, feel free to play with whichever hand you're most comfortable with (so no handling patterns are included).
These videos will be a valuable tool for drummers who want to develop their skills and familiarize themselves with different #musical #styles.
The concept of a daily approach to knowledge is a way of setting a high enough standard to achieve your goals.
