  • Time travel is a concept that involves travelling to either the past or the future, it has been made popular by fictional works like H.G. Wells' 1895 novel, "The Time Machine." and the Back to the Future movies.
    For years there have been tales of people experiencing timeslips and claims of some individuals having travelled both forward and back in time. Neither of which are currently scientifically possible for more than a few milliseconds. In this video, we will explore some credible incidents of alleged time travel, as well as some of the more crazy and unlikely claims.
    So sit back, hit those lights and prepare to fall down the Time Traveller Rabbit Hole.

    How exactly would these smart phones work in the past? No towers, no satellites, yet people just expect these things would have service in the 1940s or earlier, it's hilarious.

      @jimmynovak7913 Před měsícem +35

      I’m not vouching for any of these as true, but knowing what we know now, if you had time travel you could easily set up a small local cell network. It wouldn’t have near the range of an actual cell tower but it could easily cover a medium size city. We had all the materials back then, just didn’t have the know how. And nothing about your cell phone connects to any satellites, bud. 😂

      Maybe in the future they didn't need towers or satellites. Things could be built in the phone. I bet if you told people in the 80s that calculators, cameras and video recording devices would all be built into our phones they wouldn't be able to comprehend it. Could be the same concept. Maybe they just brought their phones along to take video of the past 🤷🏻‍♂️

    The case of the man from Taured was an urban legend. A guy named John Zegrus was arrested by Japanese officials in 1960 for identity fraud and using a counterfeit passport. An article in "The Province" reported on this but got some things mixed up. Among them was the claim that John's passport was "issued at Tamanrasset, the capital of Taured south of the Sahara". Wikipedia notes that "Taured" was probably a misspelling of "Tuareg" (an ethnic group native to the Sahara). The idea that Taured was the actual name of the (fictional) country the guy was from seemed to have been written by Jacques Bergier (not sure where in) and from there, it snowballed into the urban legend as we usually hear it thanks to Japanese urban legend groups online.
    It is a really interesting story and I can definitely see why it keeps up as an urban legend.

    The problem with all of these stories is that when you look into them, there's never any evidence they actually happened, even the ones like the Man from Taured which should have records. The smaller stories by individual people, like the one about Marie Antoinette, are more compelling because you can't disprove them. (Also, they tend to be brief time slips, which seem more plausible than time machines mounted in your car.)

There was a little box that could be plugged into a jack in certain pews, and it came with a little black cup type of thing on a cord that you held up to your ear, volume controls on the little box. The cord was the kind of phone chord from the 50s and 60s onward that rolled up on itself, but phone/audio chords from before then were just straight, so I could seem something similar sitting in that woman's hand without looking too obvious

    Where travel into the past is concerned, I subscribe to the Dean Koontz [By the Light of the Moon] theory that, while travel to the past might be possible, it would be in the capacity of observer only, with no power to interact with anything. Even if you were there then, you're not really 'there' now, you're an observer. As for travel into the future, never say never; be aware, however, that traveling back to you 'present' might not be possible.

Then one day, one person comes along, who never talks to the avtual people involved, nor actually touch the "evidence" firsthand comes along and says it was all fake because they "investigated" it and found no evidence proving anything, and everyone says the case has been debunked.
    I call BS! Just because one person comes along years after the fact and says they found nothing, proves absolutely nothing. It sure as hell doesn’t automatically debunk the story.

Your voice, cadence, and soothing tone could make the cat in the hat sound like a spooky twisted story that would make people lose sleep even time they heard the phrase 'Sam I Am' lol
    I would have to say that there are 2 stories that are my favorites, but each with for different reasons.... the man from Taured is my favorite time travelling story because it sounds so plausible and I think that7 the police would react exactly the way they did: lock him down!!!!! lol BUT I personally don't consider it time travels... its more of a interdimensional story
    - BUT the other favorite is one that I think I WOULD DO if I had access to a time machine... I would PLAY THE STOCK MARKET!!!! (but I would also win the lottery too LOL) I love the story because I would love to do that.. I mean who wouldn't, right? BUT I find it implausible that $50 went to $350 MILLION in 30 days.... it's possible but you would have to travel to a very specific date where a bunch of different stocks suddenly sky-rocketed... which doesn't happen very often.... BUT the part that makes me think it's not real is that gaining that much money would changing the future.... and you wouldn't know what would change unless you went back to your time machine and checked
    LOTS OF FUN to think about this stuff!! :D

    I see that, again, a lot of possible theories involve the use of mobile phones. There's one major problem with that idea though, one that frankly debunks the lot of them. Cellular technology NEEDS cell towers in order to work. No matter how sophisticated they get, they'll need the towers in order to do all that they do. Therefore, the lot of the alleged time travelers using iPhones and other devices cannot happen in the past before these things are available.
    Still, I do have to wonder about, maybe, two of the stories. I can debunk Musk being a time traveller right away because, let's face it, the Teslas are not exactly as efficient as they're made out to be. There are numerous problems with them, which, if he was a time travller, he'd be able to know how to correct immediately.

      In the 80’s if you told someone that cameras, calculators, internet and cellphones would all fit in our pockets you would be called crazy. Wouldn’t you think that if they can time travel, that maybe the cellphone technology is also much more advanced? Lol

    • @Ben9263Thurber
      @Ben9263Thurber Před měsícem +2

      @@Bostongreenm3. obviously you didn't live in the 80s. It was a time of technological achievement we only progressed to today. That's when cell phones first came out and the idea of smaller and more powerful computers started making waves. It was also the birth of AOL and the internet.
      In other words, you wouldn't be burned at the stake for suggesting what you assume.
      But let's take it a step further. Check out the reactions of the people around these supposed time travelers with their "cellular tech." Truth is that, before the 70s and 80s, having someone seemingly talking to a wallet-sized device in their hand would create an anachronism. They would be viewed as crazy, like you assumed. You see, time travel is a messy business. But it's fun to speculate about.

To travel into the future you just need a certain amount of speed outher space, but to be able to travel into the past, with everything we know about physics you would have to put the whole universe into the state it was at that exact moment you want to travel to. Even if it wasnt always expanding, there is no way we will ever be able to do that

    In regards to; "why would people think a cell phone would work in the past?" issue, it just seems to be some ingrained part of our human make up.
    Im a plumber. I often run in to the following problem.
    If a client wishes to add an appliance that needs a drain into the waste system, I need to slope that piping at 2%. Basically 1" of fall for every 4' of length. Thus if the closest existing waste piping is, say,
    100' away, not uncommon in a commecial or industrial building, then at the end of my new pipe I will be approx 2' down. This means chipping up concrete, excavating, and possibly removing, a bunch of material etc, etc, etc. When I explain this I am invaribly met with an actual question or the body language of a person looking around the floor for one of the drains that GOD installed all over the planet late on that 6th day of creation. People seem to automatically assume that there must be drains in the floor/ground because......
    THERE'S ALWAYS A DRAIN IN THE FLOOR....
    The best evidence for the moon landing being fake is about 10 minutes of observing humanity

The time taken to return him may have been short for the abductors, , but decades for humanity. Time dilation like that occurs when travelling near black holes or super massive stars / planets.

    I’ll put an end to his debate permanently - NO! No one will be able to travel back in time further back than their own relative present. As humans will likely never truly experience a time of “now” your light-cone is always ticking at a rate we aren’t perceptive of.
    As for time-travel into the future - that’s already proven in a certain form. You aren’t traveling to any point of which you can jump back the same amount of time you skipped ahead to. Once you’ve traveled in this way, there is no backtracking. Time dilation is what I’m referring to. With speed and or gravitational influence you are aging normally in your relative situation, but to others, they are aging faster in their relative situation. If you got close enough to an enormous gravitational body, your time would slow down dramatically compared to anyone far enough away.
