I sleep well at night because of the sacrifice these Sailors make. Thank you for your service.
I was on one of these submarines as a civilian contractor back in the 1980's. You are basically living inside of a huge, very complex machine. There are pipes, valves, wire bundles, electrical panels and electronic equipment everywhere in the ship. I didn't get to see the reactor itself but the compartment where its located is enormous. The missiles are so long the missile tubes go from the keel all the way up to the top of the sub. I've never seen that much complicated stuff all in one place.
Thank You Joe Vignolo, God Bless You.
Yeah I had absolutely no idea how massive and complicated a submarine really is. Impressive engineering.
It’s armed with Trident ballistic missiles.
It’s pretty much a space station under water…
I have.
The human body is FAR more complex.
There is more intelligence in a human beings finger nail than all human technology COMBINED.
I served on this boat from 2011-2015. I hated it at the time but the importance of the job was never lost on me. Such a unique life experience.

@@rael5469 in the United States submarine service, 150 men start basic submarine training in Groton Connecticut, 2/3 of them were dropped on request because of failed system tests, not having the ability to make the grade, ( no pun intended ) there was 41 people left in my graduating class, , every sailor is subjected to mental psychological physical analytical grooming , it's only for the best of the best, and very few of them can pass that test, ♦️♦️♦️‼️
@@davidstaudohar6733 Glad to hear it. Sincerely glad that's the case. The public should expect nothing less. I knew lots of guys in the Air Force who could not make the PRP program for one reason or another. They enlisted them anyway because they were needed on the flightline and back shops. So even on our end those who came into contact with nukes were watched very closely. Still, sorry to say, I saw my share of Bent Spears. That was unexpected. I learned that the military is pretty much SNAFU much of the time.
As an American, I'm immensely proud of the men and women who serve...

I am proud of this crew. Their main mission is to help deter nuclear war. God bless all our service members.
LOL, the main mission is to get laid once you hit land! Nobody has deterring nuclear war on their mind, everyone just counts down the days until your next Port of Call! If you really care, don't send candy care packages during the holidays, send a stack of nudie mags and cartons of cigarettes! Also send nude selfie's that's what we dig in the pile of letters and care packages for, we pretty much toss aside care packages and letters from kids. I know that's rotten, but that's the real Navy when you're stuck at sea for months at a time! Everyone has this vision of the military being heroic, yeah we do our jobs, but we are far from being heroic. Your fist day on board, you won't be greeted with handshakes and hugs, you will be ignored with tricks being played on you, to see if you have what it takes. My first day on board, somebody spit tobacco on my spit shine shoes because I was trying to make him look bad!
I served on SSBN’s for 22 years, 1989-2011. Best job I’ve ever had. I definitely miss the comradery with my shipmates, not so much for the time away from my family.
Thats cool. I didn't serve on SSBNS the whole 21 years though. Little bit of all of them except 21 Class and Virginia Class. So from Nautilus to 739 everything in between. God Bless our Submarines
15 patrols on 3 boats was enough for me, because once the Russians quit playing, I didn't see any point to being there. Best group of guys I ever worked with, but in the end, no reenlistment bonus ever lasts as long at the time does. Maybe that's why you never see the nukes being interviewed?
Our Navy is incredible.God Bless our Sailors!

Proud USS Kentucky vet, I always love it when the submarine force gets some public recognition, many people never get to see the inside of a submarine.
One of my best friends from high school was on the USS Kentucky. He was on it from the mid to late 90's. I'm always fascinated with watching stuff on submarines. There was a guy from a CZcams channel "Smarter Every Day" that has a multipart series being on a submarine. You'd probably like those videos.
There are great people on the seas! It reminds me of Vasili Arkhipov, the one man who prevented world war 3, by refusing to shoot the Nuclear missile against the US during the Cuban missile crisis when the other two commanding officers did. I hope this nuclear deterrence strategy works!

She wasn’t told that each of the 20 missiles carry 14 nuclear war heads each can have a separate target. Collectively all our nuclear submarines can launch approx 4000 nukes a min after the president or his surviving successor gives the command to strike the enemy(s).
The same as the UK's Royal Navy submarines. The one noticeable difference between our latest Sub's & this one is we don't have periscopes, they're equipped with digital cameras that use Wi-Fi to scan above the water line.
That's what I was looking to see.
They don't mention how many Warheads or the size of the Warhead. Could be 8 ,could be 12 we are not told.
Each Warhead could be two megatons could be six megatons show the destructive force it is wild. And has been around for many years only has become better over time quieter more accurate more dependable.

yeah its ok. I have scoured youtube for years and got quite the collection about submarines. Most are ok for the novice. Actually having 5 Submarines under my belt can never be represented in a video. They are the chit. Ask any submariner, and they will tell you every submariner no matter what nation deserves respect for what they did/ do or will do. A special connection like no other military service. Adversaries and foes are respected. You may not know it but Submarines have kept
the peace amongst us and always will. Silent deadly and a force to be reckoned with if need be. We keep the peace. Or end the world. God Bless Submariners.
Martha Raddatz once went on a real air support mission in an F-15E. ....or D model, Not sure which. Anyway, her strike package really dropped bombs. She's the real deal. Brave.
I felt reeling when I saw the soldiers move inside the submarines. Almost, it is like a confinement within a narrow spaced vessel. God save them. Love from India
A couple of things. Yes, this is all fascinating, but if those missiles were ever actually used, it's basically the end of the world as we know it. Also, as for the secrecy of the subs location. Actually, when on active patrol, the exact location isn't even known by the pentagon or Navy admirals. All that is known by them is a several thousand square mile area that it is operating in (which is still classified). ONLY the subs Captain and his senior officers and navigation crew knows their EXACT location when they are on patrol.
Eric, I think it’s just bad reporting on her part not telling the public the consequences of firing nuclear weapons.

I was an "A" Ganger from 1976 to 1980 aboard the USS Kamehameha SSBN 642B. I really enjoyed my time and especially the crew. Don't get me wrong, going to sea for 2 months at a time sucked but I loved the challenges I faced as the Atmosphere Control Tech. As a Machinist Mate 2nd Class, I got to go to Engine Lathe School, Oxy-Acetylene Cutting and Brazing School, Material Control School, Quality Control School, Auxiliary Package Course, Planned Maintenance and other schools I even forgot I took. lol. We did a lot of training during Off Crew periods. That training set me up to become a Test Engineer for the Quincy Shipbuilding Yard, Maintenance Supv for 3 other companies and a Production Supv for another, before I designed and patented a special tool for Overhead Lineman. So while some people might not think back favorably about their time aboard a submarine, I had a great time but I definitely had had enough of being out of touch with my family so my 7 patrols was just enough for me. The only regret I had was that I didn't take advantage of the free travel I could have taken after my patrols ended in Spain and Scotland. I could have had 30 days of travel at a time with no place to be until it was time to return for off crew training. Otherwise, no regrets.😋😋
