3 Years later this video is GOLD
Glad you liked it and it was helpful!
Hey there Monica I was watching your video in which you were texturing that leather book with gold imprint, and so I wanted to do something similar and I thought let's texture a cricket leather ball. I had everything in mind, the bump, the metalness, specular and everything. But I just couldn't unwrap the spherical ball as a flat rectangle(because a rectangle will make it easy to add the stitch line in photoshop). Could you please make a tutorial on how to unwrap spherical objects as rectangle uvs?
really helpful 💗
Glad you think so! Enjoy texturing!
Great tutorials on Substance Painter. Only thing is can you make a video explaining the Bake Maps settings? I don't know why do we need to increase Dilation width, Secondary Rays. What do they do?
You saved my ass once before, you saved it again thanks for all these vids! :)
Love to hear that! Good luck with your projects!!
Now I'll know how to make a stool in the future!!!
Yes!! You can do just about anything! :D
Best tutorials I've ever watched, thanks a lot :) I'll do the grenade next
Is there a different that you export the stool as obj or fbx in substance?
that keyboard is causing a magnitude 8 earthquake
Lol, yes, that was a problem for a bit. I've bought a quieter keyboard :)
i have the old version and i so got used to the UI. My gosh why did they change the UI? This looks so overwhelming at first glance! But then you started working on it and it resembles PS more and more. So i see why they did that...
"you have to make sure the UV's are facing the right way" .. Not necessarily, with standard materials in substance painter you can either use triplanar projection, or you can mask the UV that's the wrong way to another layer with the same material and rotate it in the material properties. With smart materials you could again use a separate layer for the incorrect direction with the same smart material but add a transform filter to the to of the materials stack and rotate it with that. So while it's good practice to get the UV direction right before hand, it's not necessary and if you have an awkward set of UV's where you just don't have the space to rotate things then you can still adjust it once in substance painter.
plezz monic need tuto for adjustement a real dimenssion like cm and m
hello your tutorial help me a lot on UV map in maya THANK YOU! but i have one question, why when i import my 3D model to substance the smooth are missing on the 3D model?
if you have '3' pressed, which is smooth preview, the model looks smooth mesh but it's a low polygon model. press the number '1' on your keyboard to see the real 3d model. If you want to have a sooth model, go to Mesh>Smooth. It will be higher poly but way smoother and it will import into substance painter smooth too. I hope that helps!
What’s is your thoughts of stacking UV shells when it comes to texturing?
Totally can! If UVs share the same texture, then stack away!
hi i hope ur fine thak for new tuto we miss u monic
I think you might have forgotten the UV of the screws of the legs if im not mistaken
Height Map ?
Another full video to see how to combine normal and height maps and she doesn't use the height map at all. Does anyone where to plug in your heightmap if you already have a normal???
The height map is used for displacement. I have a tutorial explaining the difference between normal and displacement here: czcams.com/video/43Ilra6fNGc/video.html Hope it helps!
How about the height? You will not import it? But the Base Color, Roughness, and Normal map u import it. Thanks for answering
Good question, Jasper. Height is for displacement, so I didn't plug it in. I go over displacement here: czcams.com/video/43Ilra6fNGc/video.html Hope that clarfies!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Thanks!
Hello, I am facing syntax error in Maya the error look like (// Error Line 1.1: Syntax error //).......can you help me in that ,what is syntax error and how to resolve it
Yikes, when do yo get the error? Did you look it up on Google?
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus yes I Google it .....but nothing found useful
what about the hight map?
That's a good question. A height map goes under displacement. I'll be going over that in the next video. :)
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus tnx. its so Borden to adjust the settings in displacement map 😭
just got the 2023 version of designer and painter off steam
Nice! Enjoy the amazing power of Substance!
well my thing is different.
I was nice getting to your art work over years, I have to say goodbye autodesk kick me out of there products. I no longer able to use Maya or any autodesk products. Full Sail University took all my core software away knowing that the career center wants me to have an active portfolio.
Hi Justin, sorry to hear that you won't have access to Maya. Have you tried signing up to a community college, which has way cheaper tuition? That way you can use their .edu address to get access to Maya. I've seen this before, maybe it will work for you? Just an idea. Good luck with your portfolio!
I love you girl I want to kiss you and hug you hardly ! I subsecribed with bell on as a thanks ! You helped me alot !
