@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans didn’t Eva drive your old manual jeep
Let see the fire starter with some semi dry wood?
Once Eva gets use to that truck, you’ll never see it again.
Amen !!
Yep
You will have to find another truck
Rite on I kno if my dad had one of these still I would wanna steal it lol also just purchased the fire starter for first time bad for my self n one for my dad for Christmas
For real 😀
Major props to Eva for letting us all see that first time driving stick. We all went through that!
I've only driven one auto which was a 2020 jag XE as a test drive. I currently own a manual bmw 4 series. All of my cars have been manual.
@@seanharrison7181 UK? (Sounds like regular European experiences)
@@seanharrison7181 I'm a 71 year old gezzer and I've never owned an automatic. They're boring.
@@SternDrive I always thought that until I got one, bought it sight unseen and didn’t think to ask. Damn useful having one in heavy traffic.
@@SternDrive I'm 21 and feel the exact same. Never owned an automatic. was taught to drive at 15 in a manual chevy pickup.
The smile on Eva face priceless. Way to go Mike a very proud moment .👍👍
I’m sitting here watching this and pushing my foot to the floor trying to help with the clutch! Taught both my kids to drive manual, now they both love it. They both actually bought cars with stick after they learned.
Having taught 5 daughters to drive in my 79 3/4 ton 4-speed w/granny gear truck, this brought back a lot of memories. I told them the same thing Mike “If you can drive this, you can drive anything”. I did the same thing you did, start ‘‘em out in the school parking lot.
I drove standard transmissions a lot when I was learning and even now I have a standard transmission Jeep. But I have to disagree with you a little. I drove an International, 16-speed, two shifter, tandem dump truck some decades ago and that was a horse of a different smell. Had to learn that almost as if I never drove a standard.
Amen !!
3/4 ton = 0.75 ton
I learned to drive at 7 years old in my moms 70 or 71 maverick grabber. It was a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual.
Amen! In most countries, if you pass a driving test with an automatic transmission, your full driving licence will be marked as "Restricted to vehicles with automatic transmission" or equivalent. This means if you want to drive a manual transmission, you must sit a driving test again with a manual car. But, if you pass with a manual transmission, your licence will permit you to drive ANY cars.
That was a great daddy and daughter training lesson that she remember all her life💕. Well done Mr. Morgan.
My daughter wanted a straight drive for her first car. So she learned at 16, took her drivers test. I was so proud of her! Great job, Eva! Be safe, be cool! Beach, NC
Eva seems to have great confidence and attitude. Job well done by the parents. God bless y’all and Merry Christmas.
Way to go Eva!! No pressure at all!! Your Dad recording you and thousands of us watching you. Great job.
This was great! Brought back fond memories of learning to drive a standard transmission. Good job, Eva. 👍
This was enjoyable watching Eva learn to drive standard transmission. The fear, anxiety, nervousness and eventual confidence was exciting to see, including her confidence in knowing the area for driving. Good job
Best video, it brought back memories when I learned 57 years ago. Always enjoy Eva in the videos she is such a joy. A few laughs but fun.
I just taught my granddaughter to drive and test in two weeks. I told her we were going to rent a car with a manual transmission for her to learn. I feel it is important. Again just fun.😃
Daughter Eva is a quick learner. Not an easy vehicle to learn on but she will be able to drive anything now. I took my driving test with a 64 rambler that had a three on the tree. My dad wanted to make sure I could handle multi tasking when driving I guess.
Eva learning to drive a stick shift is adorable! Nice work you two.
It’s better to learn to drive in a manual then in a boring overrated automatic
@@1000guy1 yes, manual is so much fun, but if we're talking on a technical basis, modern automatics have better performance and always shift at the best possible moments.
@@geoffrey6000 but they still overrated
@@1000guy1 no, they're not. It's just a matter of preference.
@@geoffrey6000 I know that but some people just need to learn to respect people’s opinions on what they want to learn to drive in if they want to learn to drive in a manual they every right but people are forcing them to learn to drive in an automatic all because it’s more easy and relaxing
The concentration on her face, she’s always smiling, true blessing
I LOVED the look of excitement and joy on Eva's face as she was driving the High Boy!
And kudos to Mike for taking the time to teach Eva a skill that not many people have these days.
Good job to all!
Another fun video to watch with my morning coffee! Takes me back to teaching our daughter to drive a manual ..lol..good memories you are making.. had some good chuckles watching this one👍👍👍 Thanks Eva for letting your Dad share your first time driving the ol beast 👍👍👍
Eva is a quick study!! I loved the look on her face when she hit reverse instead of second. We've ALL had that grinding noise assault our ears when first learning a stick-shift. Thanks for the memory. Ron :)
I had a 1975 f250 highboy. Lifted with a built 390. That thing would pull down a house! Lol. Wish I still had it. Me and all my siblings had to learn to drive stick to get our drivers license. Go Eva!
My daughter is now 18
I taught her how to drive it was my 2013 Lincoln car. In a parking lot.
Not on a road!!!
Then we got her her first car. A 07 Mini Cooper manual.
I taught her how to drive it after we bought it. She said she could learn how to drive a manual. Determined girl.
She loves it! She learned and I’m a proud dad.
She has it mastered. ❤️
This video brings back memories.
In college now. SCAD in Georgia ❤️
Misses her Mini
It’s parked here waiting 👍
Hi Mike,
Eva did great. Once she gets to be at ease with shifting, I can see her shifting without the clutch. I had a 78 Z-28 with a 4 speed and taught two of my nieces to drive stick and they didn't believe me you could shift with using the clutch. They were both all smiles when they learned and the older even showed off to her boyfriend she could shift without the clutch. She told me her boyfriend said it couldn't be done and was amazed when she showed him how to do it. Of coarse she was using my Z-28, which made huge points with her boyfriend. You and the family stay safe.
Good Morning Morgan Family! Yesterday’s video was your best yet. God bless you guys and have a great week.
My mother taught me how to drive a stick. Took me around a few blocks and did the same thing, telling me when to use clutch, brake, gas, etc. I'll never forget it. Great memory. Thankfully, I was working a part time job and the guy that carpooled with me was a bit older and knew how to drive a stick. He taught me the other stuff, dealing with hills or avoiding rolling back on someone on your bumper. I drove a manual for years and years. Enjoyed this video.
Just fantastic! Brings back wonderful memories of learning to drive at age 15. No automatic transmission cars for our family. Dad never owned anything but stick shift vehicles.
Brought back so many memories, especially my school bus driving instructor. He pounded into our heads the "Friction Point" of the clutch. Would make us hold the bus on a slight uphill incline with nothing but our foot on the clutch. You couldn't pass his class without mastering this. There were rumors of him taking off his wrist watch and placing it behind the front tire during testing, but he used a raw egg in my class. Best driving lesson I ever had.
Awesome way to start the day, Hunter and Eva. I was waiting for the stop at the gas station. Learning to drive a stick with hills to negotiate is no easy feat. Think Eva can do anything she sets her mind to.
Go Eva Go..Nothing Better than an Ole Manual Transmission..I Learned on and Ole Pink Army Jeep..❤️
Boy did that bring back alot of memories, teaching my 3 kids to drive.
You brought back good memories of teaching both of my sons to drive a stick! The thing both of them were the most afraid of/frustrated by was learning to get going from a dead stop on a significant incline. Eva did quite good for her first effort!😃 I would have taken your own advise and moved that seat up for her so she could bottom out that clutch more easily. When I taught my sons I first went over the mechanics of why a manual didn't freewheel going down a hill like an automatic. The other thing I did was to turn the truck off and set the parking break and have them practice the mechanics of shifting through the gears. When to press the clutch, how to coordinate the gas peddle with the clutch and working through the gear pattern. After all that practice while sitting still, things were easier when we got moving, though they still killed the engine a good number of times.😉 We used the roads in a barely opened up subdivision which seemed to be much easier to learn on, not going in circles helped . But you use what you have available.👍
Eva is catching on to a 4 speed quickly. The skill of hearing and feeling the "friction point" on the clutch will eventually happen as you learn to listen to the sound of your engine. Then you know it is time to shift gears! Good work, Eva! Mike you are a patient teacher, good work on your part too!
No pressure Eva. Only thousands watching! Good job.
I liked watching this as it brought back memories for me. My grandfather had an old 1972 or 1973 F-250 (brown in color), and I used to ride in it with my uncle quite a bit. I paid attention to how he drove it and learned quite a bit from that. It was the vehicle that I learned how to drive standard in. They had a dairy farm that the truck was used on most of the time. Over the years the box got rusted out, so they put a dump box on the back and a different cab at the same time. You both look like you had a good time teaching and learning. Learning to drive a standard is challenging but it's fun once you learn it. Learning to drive standard is actually two parts, learning the pedals and what gear to be in. She will get the hang of it, just takes practice. Good idea with the school parking lot. I made that suggestion to someone for learning how to back up with a boat trailer behind them.
Props to both you guys - everyone should know how to drive that. Never know when something like that is your only transportation out of a situation. Just another good life skill to have. Good job Eva!
This brings back memories of my dad teaching me to drive his 67 Ford F100 with 3 on the tree. The only thing missing is me scaring my dad and him yelling at me. Good Job Eva!
Boy did that bring back memories. I taught my pregnant wife, then our 3 daughters how to drive stick. It was my requirement for them to get their license. They all thanked me later. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations Eva!🎉🎊🎉🎊 That's awesome! It reminds me of teaching my daughter to drive many years ago. The only difference is you have it on video.
Good job teaching Eva to drive a straight drive Mike, when I taught my 16 yr old daughter to drive one, my patience was really tested. She is 32 now and always tells people that her daddy taught her to drive a straight drive. She is really proud that most of her friends male and female can't do it.
americans lol
Great job Eva!! You did great with no power steering or power brakes! It’s hard to learn on a old vehicle but once you learn you’ll be able to drive anything! I’m really impressed! Nice job teaching Eva! The Huntman looked really happy today, nice seeing him! Great video Mike! Hi Melissa! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Good job Eva! I learned to drive a standard transmission in a 1964 Ford Truck in 1970.
That was fun. Brought back great memories of me and my kids. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Mike your patience with Eva is commendable that will make a world of difference while learning the truck.
Mike, I applaud you for teaching Eva on a standard transmission. Bought my daughter's their high school/work car. And was insistent on them learning to drive a standard. They are both in their 40's now and still driving standard transmissions. Of course their mother thought I was crazy, but then she never learned how🤷😺🤗🐺
My fiancée lost her father a year ago. He taught us both manual for our first time. Eva is lucky to have you.
Taught my daughter last year and now working on my son. Manual transmission is almost a thing of the past!
Been a challenge….he has very large feet.
My daughter learned in 3/4 ton 4×4 1978 Chev, she can drive anything and is a very good driver and has the confidence to do it all. We laugh about the process she went through to learn when thinking back she's now in her 30s. Great times. Eva, you will never regret learning to drive that beast of a truck & will have greater appreciation for the newer vehicles. 👍
Driving this truck will also teach Eva to watch the road farther ahead of the end of the hood
Great job Eva.
My dad made me practice dry shifting before driving. This was three speed on the column. Then graduated to a 1958 F 600 pulpwood truck. It wasn't bad driving when the brakes worked but was exciting when they didn't. Eva learned in a perfect truck. Good job
Dont know how I stumbled on this but watching you teach your daughter to drive a stick is like the best thing ever and I'm not ashamed to say that she caught on a lot quicker than I did on my first attempt. 😊
Congratulations Eva! It’s not hard after a while.
I’ve got 10 gears and @40 tons I drive most days! You’ll do well.
Hello to Hunter and Melisa too! Take care and stay safe Mike! God bless! 🙏✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
OMG about a minute in did we see Eva starting to turn left with a no left turn sign in background. 😂 She is really lucky as most kids now days don’t get a chance to learn how to to drive a manual. 😊
I learned how to drive manual on my father's 1956 Chevy Silverado, it was tricky but really good and I had a fun experience.
Happy to see Hunter with that big smile on his face makes my day.
Great job Eva and Mike and Melissa and the Huntman too !! What a fun video with the learning experience for EVA, that's a big step and could come in handy for her. Glad you're doing so well with the fire starter, keep it moving. I'm sure your friend is trying to find an old style Bronco already , good luck and stay safe . Fred.
I have an 83 f150 with a 300+ 4spd granny. Love that truck. Bought it in highschool. And the joy of driving something born the same year as yourself, what a great feeling. Now she just needs to learn how float shift the gears. I had my crash course when I went to go upshift, and half my clutch linkage fell onto the road ( non-hydrolic clutch ). I got real good, real fast at float shifting. I made it to a friend's house not too far away. Welder, small pipe, and square peg to mate into a round hole. Not ideal, but I made it work, until I could order the right parts. When I got my CDL, float shifting gears was second nature to me, from my colorful childhood. Man, good times. Like I said, better she learn to float the gears now, instead of later. Trust me, I should know.
I would give eva an a plus for her first time for driving a standard trans. Eva is the prettiest lady driving an old ford truck.
Dad is a great teacher, very calm and methodical. Eva is a very positive student, very inquisitive, which is a good thing with a student. Even when things were getting difficult, Eva didn’t get frustrated. And Dad provides good, positive reinforcement. The only suggestion I would make, is to spend a few minutes going over the shift pattern. Let her get comfortable before she moves the vehicle. Eva demonstrates the mark of a good student. She trusts her instructor, and her abilities. Nice video. Nice job Dad. And, Congratulations Eva on learning a very basic skill set … eye-hand (and foot) coordination.
Melissa, not only did she not cry, she was grinning ear to ear the whole time. She did GREAT for her first time. So awesome to see her feeling better. Mike, I love how you prefaced the drive with “this is my truck”, the way Eva was grinning the whole time, that may just change. 😄 You’re right about one thing though, that is a good looking truck.
I had to tell this story. About a year ago I made an appointment at U-Haul to have a trailer hitch installed on my truck (5 speed manual transmission). When I arrived the young man working there told me to pull it around the side to the shop doors. I did that and then went inside the shop to go over a few things with him and a couple of other young men who were also working there. After our discussion the one fellow said, hey we will start on it right now you can go wait in the waiting area, we won't be long. So I am sitting there a few minutes and in the door here they all come. I'm thinking now what, they can't be done by now when they all said in unison hey can you pull your truck in the shop, nobody here can drive a manual transmission, I couldn't help but get a good giggle out of that, they were kinda scuffing their feet around with their heads hung down. Made me feel my age. 68 hey that ain't old is it? I wish that would have happened to Eva. Brought back memories of teaching my 16 year old girl friend how to drive my old 3 on the tree, Dodge Dart, not much clutch left when she was done. Oh well, I don't have either one anymore.
Eva is awesome! I have taught so many people to drive a stick. I learn to drive when I was very little. Thr real trick is to drive without using the clutch in case the clutch cable breaks. ;)
I’m I am setting here watching this and my feet are doing everything like I was driving. I love a good manual transmission. Way to go Eva. Driving a manual is all most a lost art.
Eva is a Trooper!!! Love that smile, like her Mom!! Maybe he had wet wood!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Eva is the most beautiful and intelligent young woman I think I’ve ever seen. She is so mature beyond her years and what a wonderful sense of humor and stunning smile! You guys have raised an absolute once in a lifetime young woman who will someday be the greatest wife/mother if she chooses. She’s an absolute joy to watch. Props to you Eva, your friend at the Jersey shore, Chris 👍🏻👏🏻🤘🏻🫶🏻😉❣️💯
A great observation and I agree Chris. Well said.
Thanks for sharing. Love seeing the young people learning to drive manual transmission. Eva did extremely Well.
Hey Mike I learned to drive in that same truck. We had a small farm and at ten my dad taught me how to drive in his 1970 Ford F250. Thanks for the memories and great job Eva!
Mike and Mel: Really moved by your story. Both my bride (now retired) and my youngest daughter were/are Special Ed teachers here in Wisconsin. We know your challenges and are praying for you!
Would you consider the fire starter appropriate for starting charcoal grills?
Definitely thumbs out on them old steering wheels.
What a model family. We all should be so fortunate.
Cong-rates Eva.I learnt to drive in a 1933 Singer 9. 4 speed crash gearbox, non synchro, strait cut gears. In its time, it was a British high performance car. Around 1960 while being tested for NZ WOF certificate, after being prodded and pocked it was time for the brake test. When the line tester went to carry out the test, he was told to stand-down by the head tester as he was going to do the test. He climbed in the car and backed up as far as he could, when he reached the test point he hit the brakes, all meters read max and he starred the windscreen with his forehead. When he came around he told the other testers to carry on. He was no seen for the next 4hrs. At production time it was the first production car to come out with twin cylinder, 4 wheel hydraulic brakes. He had stopped the car with all 4 wheels locked sold from about 35-40 miles per hour.
She's pretty😍
Maybe the reason some are having trouble with your fire starter is because their wood isn’t dry
I haven’t heard of anyone having trouble with it, not one
When I was Eva’s age, I was already in the Navy! I learned to drive a stick on a 1968 VW Beatle in a harvested corn field when I’m was 15.
This is a great video. My daughter's first car, was an S-10 pickup with a manual transmission. Last year, I taught my grandson to drive a manual.
Supermodel learns to drive manual trans
Nice. Taught my son and daughter on a 1979 Ford truck with stick shift. Enjoyed the video. Brought back memories. 👍
Evidence of a healthy relationship and confidence. Well done by all of you ❤️
Mike that was a great family video to share with all of us. A memory that will last a lifetime. When my younger brother was learning to drive the 1956 Ford car/homemade El Camino on the farm a grasshopper landed on his left arm and let go of the wheel, talk about panic.
Memories of teaching my three daughters how to drive my 1969 BRONCO. My oldest daughter is Melissa's age.
Sweet video. She did good! Fun to see her nervous yet excited at the same time. Sure brought back memories of vehicles past esp my Dads 51 gmc pickup 3 speed on the column with a starter pedal.
I first learned on an old Mack dump truck. Eva did great.
Great video. Eva is a good student and you are a great teacher. Those father/daughter memories will last forever. Thanks for sharing.
This is such a wholesome video, love seeing young people drive manual transmission cars and trucks. We all went through that awkward phase but I look back on it with a smile on my face.
Nice job Eva and Mike .All my 4 kids learned to dive manual shift and still to this day prefer it , and brag about it.
Oh man...did this bring back some old memories. My first time in an old International pickup truck with my dad teaching me how to clutch and shift. Thanks for sharing.
Taught my son and daughter to drive a manual in a 1965 Chevy P/U w/3 on the tree. No power steering, no power brakes. If they can drive that, they can drive most anything. She did good but my toes curled a couple times (PTSD). I can't imagine being filmed while trying to learn a stick.
Boy that brought back the memories of teaching my children how to drive. Great show as always. Thanks for the good memories.
Great job Eva, keep driving that truck and you won’t have to go to the gym. Watching this video reminded of the song Drive by Alan Jackson. Hey Mike, if she likes the old Bronco’s you should find her find her one with a manual column shift.
I taught my then girl friend to drive a 4 speed Corvair because her dad would not let her get her drivers license. A few years later, after we married, we got '68 GMC 3/4 ton with 4 speed manual which she was able to drive. She had to put a pillow in back of her to be able to reach the peddles. One time she just about drove the truck through the side of the garage because she forgot to push the clutch in. Great job Eva. Another channel that I watch calls a manual transmission a vehicle security system.
Pretty kid. Good to teach, because they begin to understand Drive system better.
Always good for kids to understand how things work.
Eva welcome to the world of manual gearing and driving. I've bought and driven two manual vehicles my Bronco was one of the 1st on the road it was a '67. That was the absolute best little truck. It took rough terrain. Was small enough for the narrowest mountain roads. Never over heated in the desert. You learning to drive brought back great memories.
Love the video on Eva Driving the manual truck ya ya for Eva .
My dad taught me how to drive a manual shift in 1986. I'm still driving manual cars almost everyday since then. Thanks dad !
Love the old Ford High boy! It brings back memories. I had a 1970 International 1 ton and a 73 3/4 ton, both 4 speeds a few years back. Very similar.
Great job! Takes me back about 70 years. Don’t make them like they use to for sure. Eva does have great taste if she likes the old Bronco! Y’all Have a Day!
You know what I love about these older vehicles, the seats are basically large chairs and couches. It looks really comfortable.
Finally got to use the fire starter and it worked perfectly and only used about a 1/2 cup thank you for a great product
My two grandsons learn how to drive in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt 5 speed that's the first thing they learn how to drive I think it's always good to have kids learn how to drive manuals. Not enough kids today knows how to drive them.
Thats awesome seeing another young person learning on one of those hi-boys. I had a 72 all though my teens and early 20's and a 71 about 10 years ago. Just got done building a 51ford on a 74 hi-boy frame. One of the most fun vehicles there is to drive.
100% agree with the idea of teaching stickshift on something difficult. "If you can drive this, you can drive anything."
Awesome truck!
I’m having flashbacks when I was young . She’s doing a great job
As a volunteer firefighter. We used to teach all new recruits to drive the trucks on a 1951 duplex firetruck. 5 speed manual transmission, no power steering or power breaks. And the shift pattern wea different from anything I have seen before. 1st and
2nd gears were both
Forward with 3rd below 2nd.
