Me too, I kinda expected this series to go like this. They never really addressed the issues from last year. They never found another big to take pressure off of AD. Jokic, Gordon, and Porter outsized AD, LBJ, and Rui. Small ball only works for GSW because of their great shooters. Unless they bring in an elite rebounder, and shot blocker to bang with Gordon and Joker. The outcome will always be the same. We saw the difference when we had D. Howard and Javell McGhee playing next to AD. We outsized and muscled all teams to win the chip.

The only glimmer is if Bron takes a $10-15m like Tim Duncan did and load the team with great talent but if Jeannie gives him the max, it’s a wrap.
That wouldn't even help because of the cap situation. It wouldn't translate 1 to 1 with the amount in cap space to sign someone with that discounted money. Maybe it opens up a midlevel exception ~12 million to sign a free agent... it depends on the other contracts.
Overall, he would never do that and it wouldn't help anyway.
Even if LeBron and Dlo both left, it would only equate to around 15 mill in cap space to sign someone.
Basically it's resign LBJ and Dlo or replace them with minimum contract talent.
Its much more beneficial that LBJ and Dlo resign so that their salary can be used in a trade. They would never trade lebron unless he asks, but Dlo's contract is vital for the Lakers to make any trades in the future. I'm hoping they resign Dlo just for that.

@@Brucey69i have no idea who they could get for Dlo and it all depends on if he even re-signs. All i know is they shouldn't lose him for nothing. With any trade its all about the math first. My guess on what could happen with Dlo:
1) Dlo signs with another team.
2) Dlo picks up his player option because he can't get more money anywhere else. He knows he will most likely get traded and will try to improve his value before his next contract.
3) Lakers slightly overpay, or give him a multiple year contract because he can't get that money anywhere else. But he knows he will be traded after the mid Decemeber trade eligibility.
4) Lakers overpay or give him a multiple year contract and complete a sign and trade ( triggers a hard cap for the Lakers). Dlo would have input on where he gets traded to.
If he walks the Lakers don't get to use his ~ 20 mill salary to go get someone else. The Lakers know this and Dlo's agent knows this. So it will come down to negotiating with assumptions in place, discussions with other teams in place. Do the Lakers overpay his market value with the assumption he knows he will be traded? Does he agree to that amount, but can choose where he's traded to?
Its complicated because he is a potential free agent and both sides have leverage. It really will depend on the market this summer. I know Laker fans hate him right now but he does have value.
I just can't believe how Rob lika and Jenny bus hired someone who has no offensive system and no plays and couldn't even write any plays and couldn't even distract the Lakers players to do what they're supposed to do on the court and I can't even believe they let them last for 2 years. They didn't get entirely wipped of the floor from the start though. Denver has more talent, more health, more shooting. The Lakers sucked during the season, there was no way they were going to fix the issues for playoffs and against the champion.

Players get tired when they do not know what they're doing, especially in the fourth quarter. Plus you get missed shots. If they were running a real strategically offensive system there would be somebody underneath the rebound there'd be somebody moving around and not nobody. Just standing in place. I mentioned this also and someone stated that it was outdated, but teams STILL run remnants of it and a smart coach can poach those parts to have a consistent offense, no guessing, but a competent and bold coach has to be ready to challenge the players and be flexible also.

Nuggets are the Lakers Kryptonite :) They have full confidence when playing vs Lakers and their shots keep falling while the Lakers struggle how to shoot the ball. Front office hired many new players sitting on the bench. What if they just hired Cousins and Howard for a 1-year contract just to have a good match up vs Jokic? What if they just hired Tyron Lue instead of Darvin Ham?

@@gugy68 Sadly, I don't see James or the front office going that route. They didn't discount Kobe, so they won't do that with Bron. Which means that the Lakers are going to be in the upper tier tax ceiling which may really affect their spending.

Well said but it's more on the coaching then the players. We have had terrible 2nd halfs in all of these games that is coach hams inability to adjust to Denvers 2nd half adjustments. I see Coach Malone on one side up by 12 yelling calling defensive switches and pushing them. Then you got Ham on the otherwise down 0-2 down by 12 at home with his hands in his pockets. Smiling nice and relaxed after the game. That ain't it he gots to go man.....

Outside of AD/LB, nothing comes from the rest of the team. This current roster can't beat the Nuggets. If they play any other team in the West, we'd be looking at a different result.
Agreed! Gabe not replacing dennis’ production really killed us. Whenever DLo/Rui/AR disappeared dennis always picked up the slack. We missed him badly this year.. i hate whoever made that decision.

Although Denver made changes to their team last season their core players are still better shooters, good defensive players, and they have good height. Also, they play hungry and make good adjustments as a team. A lot of what the Lakers are lacking. DLo, Rui, and the others with the exception of AD and LeBron are too inconsistent.

They claimed the lackluster acquisitions were to make room for getting high value players this coming off season. Either they do that, or they get rid of Rob Polinka. This is no surprise to anyone that knows the game, the Lakers as they stand are not even close to being a championship team. To start, they need not just a coach, but the right coach. They have players that a team can easily create mismatches against, they're slow, and very inconsistent when it comes to shooting. That equals a middle of the pack team.
For the love of god get a true center and a guard who can actually score on their own and do it at a consistent clip. I'm tired of wondering whether our guards will show up for 5 points or 25 points.

I would insert Jackson Hayes into the line up and take out Reeves or DLO. I would have Hayes guarding Jokic. Hear me out. The plan would to blitz Joker every time or damn near every time he got the ball with AD. AD on Gordon. With a serious rotation to the man left open. Two 7 footers to get Joker out of the game… out of rhythm. Lack of comfortable touches or whatever you want to call it.

Exactly. But the lack of big man depth, not at least making a run at a guy Drummond or talking to at least a few bigs would have helped. BUT...Darvin seems to have a difficult time utilizing size. He did that with Bryant and Bamba last year and had stretches where he was ultra inconsistent with Hayes and Woods. So,it's Ham's schemes and Pelinka still not realizing roster balance.
It's like he has to see them fail before he acts and even then he over corrects and we get imbalance.

@wills.9422 Well Bryant thrived while here and given minutes...he's thrived in places he was given minutes. Bamba is a different story, BUT given minutes he wasn't trash. The teams both are on they are not going to supplant the starters. Bam Adebayo and Embiid, so though those two aren't all stars they are certainly not trash...and I was going to say they would have been good to have, but as I reiterated Ham did not or does not want/or can't use them properly.
