    100% agree. I no longer repair these. Easier to replace them. Only had a few replacrment carbs along the way that were junk out of the box.

    We are a echo dealer I see this all the time. Rebuild them they still leak I tell the boss we just change these instead but he always wants to try to fix them first.

      It’s a waste of time to rebuild a wore out carb

    Great fix.
    In my case, I simply dismantled the carb, blew it out with some carb cleaner, and smeared some silicone on the gasket when fitting it up. Works great now, except for high throttle

    It is worth commenting on his advice to crack the gas cap to relieve the pressure. This trimmer has a vented fuel tank that should not be under pressure. Correcting this problem may be as easy as cleaning or replacing the vent.

    I did replace carburetor. Month later still leaks. Today it got worse. Has been leaking for years now just not this much. In search of new trimmer and Unbelievable none are reliable today based on reviews. Oh, I recall new Honda trimmer leaked the first time i used it. Within seconds and it went back to the store.

    How is fuel reaching the carb while sitting isn't fuel delivery vacuum powered? I have this exact same problem, no leak in the tank but fuel leaks out til almost empty when sitting.. very puzzling. I loosened the cap thinking it would release pressure and prevent fuel from reaching the carb while sitting but that had no effect

    I’ve heard the term ‘money efficient’ before. Just wondering what it exactly means. Is it to do with spending more money up front to save on say something like excess labour?

    • @THEMOWERMEDIC1
      @THEMOWERMEDIC1  Před 2 lety

      Let me break it down for you it takes 10 minutes to swap a carb out. Most shops have a 30 minute minimum so a carburetor plus labor is going to cost you somewhere around 90 bucks if you do the carburetor yourself you’re only out 20 or 30 bucks if you pay a shop to do a tuneup and rebuild the carburetor you’re looking at $20 in parts and an hour labor equaling about 150 bucks
