- Hello and welcome to something a little bit different... NIMBY Rails!
This is a brand new train tycoon/management style simulation/game using real world maps! You can build a railway anywhere in the world (well on land). Fictional or realistic, whatever you choose to build, the metaphorical world is in YOUR hands.
This series will see us working towards completing a realistic replica of the "Northern Powerhouse". From Manchester to Leeds, York to Newcastle, and Carlisle to Liverpool, this project shall include them all! Massive undertaking right?
In todays episode we shall be building our first line. It's my very first look into this early access game so i'm a little bit jittery. We'll be building a nice short and simple commuter route from Manchester Piccadilly down to Manchester Airport in the hope we can generate some cash.

Have to say I'm looking forward to this series. Looks like this will develop into a fantastic game. The ability to re-create your own real life lines / stations / routes, great idea. This should be a good one. Great video as always Mr Joe :)

@@JoeDobsongaming Trying to remain a “glass half full” attitude here, isn’t that a good thing? I mean, for sure it’s frustrating, but ultimately makes longevity better and I would think will make the game more rewarding too. You’ve also given me many a dilemma. I managed to get my Thrustmaster T150 working on OMSI2 so I’m enjoying the add on London. I want to get Transport Fever 2 having seen your vids and now I want to get this game too. Is there a way to create more than 24 hours in a day? 😂 oh and I still need time to watch your vids too 👍🏻

Interesting concept, I would probably try and build Moscow to Pyongyang
The irony is that with every demo I’ve seen of the game, people are just plotting out the real life train routes. Why not plot out ‘what if’ lines or historical lines that aren’t there anymore?
That’s the biggest appeal to me, I can create the rural intercity passenger rail I’ve always dreamed of!
21:26 Virgin/Avanti actually use that bypass track between Heald Green and Wilmslow, that is because they have services stopping at Wilmslow before stopping at Crewe! *According to my knowledge anyway*

there are mods on the workshop now more trains , i live in stockport and building my version of northeren powerhouse. great vid and great tutorial i found a lot of useful stuff from your vid great work

Wow that “fact” about 93.6 percent of ppl thinking their country’s infrastructure is shit- I really believed it and I sat here going “hmm but Japan and Korea and China have good infrastructure and make up a larger percentage of population than 6.4” I sat here calculating
Hahahaha it was a close one wasn't it. See i'd agree but then I think Berlin has a sensational network of trains, yet we were speaking to a German woman on the train who said Berliners thought it was dire... so maybe wherever you are people think the railways are bad because it's just what they're used to... Who knows haha

You certainly can! Manchester Metrolink is a network we will be setting up at some point in this series! :D
