As a kid watching this between 8-12yo, I thought Elwood was a jerk for lying to John like that. But I grew up and realized it was part of the movie and they’re actually good friends 🤣😅
Yep I never had any problem with this film, they were never going to make something like the original so they focused on good tunes and good actors. Gold.
I started getting into Blues Traveller in the mid 90s... listening to some of their extensive bootleg collection. Then I saw John talking to Elwood in the movie and I started freaking out! I was bopping out to this big time in the cinema and I almost got up and started to dance to it (mind you, I had been a part of the audience participation for the original back in the late 80s at the Valhalla cinema in Melbourne, Victoria).
ipurley85 I think that's supposed to be the humorous part. He left thinking they were just going to be some rinky dink band but they turned out to be blues traveller lol
That's one major thing I think this movie screwed up on (it was a ton lol.) They shoulda had Elwood add a couple people into the group instead of the little kid (Morton was solid so I'll leave him in.) Popper coulda been a harmonica guy like Elwood was and help do some singing, and Johnny Lang coulda been the badass guitar player that the group honestly needed. It woulda helped 2 main things: 1. It woulda showed Elwood truly moves on from Jake (they pushed that to the side rather early and he focused on Curtis's legacy more which was dumb. Curtis was huge to them but Jake was Jake.. he shoulda got more of a focus,) and 2. It woulda boosted their group so much more for the battle of the bands. The Blues Brother itself sounded so pastoral and stuck in 60's era Blues vs the Gator Boys who had that nice flavor to their sound.. along with all the badasses in the group lol. It would have made things more fun at least to add a rockier edge to the group.. Popper and Lang coulda done that.
@@efan2012 With that logic why not get the writers and producers to do another movie? Since it's been 22 years since this and nobody really wanted or liked this one, I think those ideas are good ones for the plot. They can give old singers like Hall and Oates, Clampton, Springsteen, Bob Dylan, etc cameos to introduce real music to today's generation and get some new ones like John Legend and Kelly Clarkson to make a treat for today's kids. There are 2 flaws I can see but both can be fixed. A. The penguin should appear even for a cameo and I'm pretty sure the actress died. I guess they may have old clips they could ad and do a voiceover. However they solved the problem with Jake the way you said so it can be done. B. The other is would it ignore the 2nd completely. My opinion is it could as I doubt anyone would care what happened to Buster. However I think there's at least something about this movie that makes the trilogy good. I don't know maybe its that Many of the old music acts return and the soundtrack good. Anyway they need a new movie.
I’ve only watched from the fair scene (Ghost Riders) on... never seen the whole movie. This is a damn good song, and I never knew John Popper was in this movie! I love Blues Traveler.
You know... just because someone is critical of a product, does not make them a "hater". The movie was poorly received at the time, and is still remembered as a big dud. Not just compared to the original, but also in its own right. Very much a typical Dan Aykroyd product, with a whole bunch of crazy scenes and a plot that had no purpose. Some also say that it was criticized because Belushi wasn't in it. A great actor doesn't elevate a movie just by appearing in it. The Phantom Menace had Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, but without a good script and good directing, there's nothing to work with. Nothing wrong with enjoying the film, but don't pretend it was something it clearly never was.
I liked it the movie is fun, you can turn off your head and listen to some epic artists work their magic. That's worth a couple of hours of anyone's time. If you don't like it, don't watch it, personally I do.
Eldwood probably didn't dare to go there, because he feared some "Btw...you might practise a bit on your harp skills" comments from his fellow musicians ;)
Lost my cd. Ordering a new one in 2024. Can’t beat this soundtrack.
lead singer of blues traveler an awesome voice wish he got the fame he deserved
They were very famous in 90s and early 2000s, def had the fame.
@@nyastclair8174 They weren't as big they should've been John's weight & Bobby's passing really slowed their momentum
Nobody deserves fame
I'll always love James brennon omara he done it all from the instrumentals lyrics tune, tap and pat I love the music
Definitely. Hed beautiful.
I don’t like musicals much but I’ve always been so addicted to the blues brothers and grease. The music in both of those movies is incredible
Blues Traveler is such an underrated band. ¡THEY'RE SIMPLY AWESOME!
My nickname is blues sister
@@Avi-zm3hz Way 2 go, sister
I loved the song Hook as well as Runaround but Hook was deeply underrated.
People like to give this movie crap, but God does it have a great soundtrack.
I think it's a good movie really good movie I love that part well you go ahead and get started we'll be right along shortly
As a kid watching this between 8-12yo, I thought Elwood was a jerk for lying to John like that. But I grew up and realized it was part of the movie and they’re actually good friends 🤣😅
Its more like they made the movie just to justify a soundtrack. And im totally ok with that
honestly the music in this one is just as good
Yep I never had any problem with this film, they were never going to make something like the original so they focused on good tunes and good actors. Gold.
Well, yeah. That's exactly what it is.......
Me Too
That was the first movie too.
A great song to listen to when you are on the road! One that makes the miles go by a lot easier.
Great song, product placement was hilarious, and the girls dancing!🥰😻😍
I had never heard of Blues Traveller before this film, but i have become a huge fan since!
Love it. Could listen to this all day. Harmonica is superb. Great music to play while cruising in my old Humber Hawk
This makes me smile. We love you john popper
This scene and the song is one of the few great moments in this movie
So much heart in this scene never gets old seeing Jon popper and the Elwood Blues in the same scene lol harmonicas at its finest huge fan
Love the song, love the movie, LOVE Blues Traveler!
The first movie is so much better

blues brothers bought here what a voice and song
I love his harmonica vest!
Most people nowadays wouldn't know about this a that's a shame
Love Blues Traveler and Blues Brothers. Pretty good song
That harmonica though, I absolutely love the harmonica so damn much. ❤️
One of my favorite bands and one of my favorite songs!
Mine too
WOW WHAT A FANTASTIC VOICE HE HAVE
Might be a bad movie, but still had a kick ass soundtrack, that's one thing the blues brothers can't fuck up
I personally liked the movie but I seem to be the only one
+Willem Dafoe I'm with yah. I loved it
Of course it's a bad movie. It is full of musicians, not actors! Don't think of it as a movie...think of it as a fun musical review.
YO --- it was a GREAT movie: I saw it, like, 7 or 8 times .....
Seen both movies like a 1000000 times
This song rips .. Harp skills are amazing.

Just like he heard Aretha Franklin sing twice but never invited her to the group.

Funny thing is, this is pretty accurate to how Dan treats his fans.
