I am 28 and did karate 3 years, then I left. Since 1 mounth I restarted to practice this beautiful discipline, and thanking CZcams, I learned Heian Godan, Jitte and Bassai Dan. I am going to take lesson in a dojo, in September.

It's called point scoring not full contact. These footwork drills are used by most martial arts styles, football and other sports for speed, agility, coordination, cardio and more. I can by your ignorance you probably dont train for combat.

Hey there Sir! In my opinions and experiences, I would say you can practice Aikido at 48 years of age. It is a simple but lethal martial art if provoked.
