- As Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate recent changes to 'god's organization' why don't they put more thought to the millions of people who came before them and were obeying teachings that were, in the least, wrong... and at the most, designed lies. Does 'new light' in 2024 make up for decades of how 'old light' negatively impacted the lives of Witnesses in the past? Are the Governing Body hoping we all forget?

I remember quite a few elderly JW's that had devoted their entire adult lives to the Org. When they became too ill or infirm and no longer able to promote watchtower interests or attend meetings, the congregation pretty much washed their hands of them. I remember thinking, "so this is how it ends." An elder would stand at the Mike and say, "please pray for sister so and so who is in the hospital." Honestly, by looking around, I could tell no one gives a crap about sister so and so. This is the thanks and rewards you get from devoting your life to watchtower. I read the writing on the wall that day.
My dad served as the COBE and PO before that for more than 20 years in 2 halls... People always telling me how much they loved him as an elder! One of the good ones! Now he has come off serving as the COBE due to health he finds himself sitting at home a lot and according to him he has no friends ... So sad... the "Friends" don't seem to be living up to that title...

The blasé attitude with which an elder said "it's not our fault he chose to listen to us" after we happened upon a householder who had been a witness during the 1975 debacle lamenting about his grief at how much he lost listening to the orgs direction to sell your belongings and pioneer full time

Dear Mr Stacey, I didn't know (my Mom was dying) in 2001 ... Not 1 doctor/specialist told me what my Mom needed to survive Coma and the "bug" she had. I am sad to say that the blood committee, my father killed my MOM.
If we knew what it was... We would've find the money 💰 in 5 minutes. My Mom woke-up a few years before she was killed.
We drove 6 hours for a lawyer who told me that my Mom wasn't worth anything. Can you imagine the pain over the pain 💔?

Great podcast... My 75 y/o Dad just had a massive heart attack. The Leason Committee would not work w the hospital he was in. Forced Dad to xfer to a hospital 18 miles away for a bloodless triple bypass. A poor, elderly, lifetime MS. I am betting the Borg won't cover those bills. What a joke. If there are any COs in the Denver area, I would love to have a face to face conversation. Come find me. I'm sure the angels will direct you.
Which church are preaching the gospel of the kingdom around the world to all nations as Jesus Christ said? Matthew 10:16,24:14,28:19-20,Mark 13:10, if not only only only the Jehovah's witnesses.

This was great, exactly how I’m feeling. I remember all those things, I got baptized in 1970. we all thought we never grow old and die. My parents are gone , I’m old and retired. I think about that every day. You lived all your life with the hope and then it’s all gone. I live with this anger and disappointment for the rest of my years.

Being I'm in a 3rd world African Country and one can have more than one wife, I at times feel like David as my income could easily maintain 3 wives!!! But I know having more than one wife means having more children! Haha 😂 and that thought scares me! 😱 So, I at age 70 reconsider the thought even though I am still healthy enough to procreate! Mentally not so sure I am patient enough for that! As it stands I pay for the schooling of my one wife's 2 Niece's which they have no father. But it is fulfilling to see a 12 year old black girl assist me as a translator when I'm doing market as I do not speak French or certain dialects she knows well. So I counted her languages and she knows 5! When she first came she could not read or write, she just knew a little French, English, but now she knows even some German! It's been amazing journey for me. Now we concentrate on critical thinking, and Cognitive psychology. 😮learning tools are Watchtower literatures she learns what Narcissism and Gaslighting looks like 👍 and what it's like to defend yourself against the lies told by the Governing Body!
One is enough! :) Romance is alive! I could have a million kids, but wow does our energy change as we age, eh? WOW, she knows 5 languages?? Incredible! I love what you're concentrating on.....I love those subjects too!

Just because we're(or were) 'programmed' to not question the top 9 guys in Upstate NY, doesn't mean individuals forget what happened to them as a group(or personally).
I remember, at the time, 2 women(I hate calling people sister/brother) were pregnant at the same time. Well, guess what happened?1 woman had a healthy baby, the other miscarried.
My mom & I brought over food to the one who miscarried, about 2 weeks after it happened.What pissed me off was she told us that she's not gonna worry about it now, because she'll 'see' her baby in the(you know the rest)....Oooo, the things I was internally yelling(& cussing) at her.Her kid would've been 8 later this year.
Sometimes, I see that woman's face when a baby, specifically, visits the cong., there's a slight sadness either in her eyes or voice😔.
That's sad. WT make them like robots. Programmed with lies.

Im glad you made a video about this, as i honestly thought i was just being weird as i began to notice how forgetful they all were. Also, i really hate how they try to make you forget when you remember something negative or try to play dumb in an attempt to make you think you were misremembering things. The mentality seems to be that if you can forget (or at the very least stop reminding them), they can forget, "we" can forget and go back to our normal lives and sleep well at night believing that all is right with the world and that we did nothing wrong.

What a profound podcast you have made this week. I don't remember if I ever shared this on here, but when I was 12 years old on my way to convention (riding a bus for the first time by myself) I was hit by a Harley Davidson (with a sidecar no less) when I got off of the bus. Taken to hospital with compound fractures in leg and arm, of course I screamed to the doctors while I was on the operating table, "don't give me blood" (Dr slapped me told me to lay down and shut up----good for him) My mother meanwhile had arrived at hospital and told doctor no blood under any circumstances. Fortunately, I did not need blood and made it through. While in the hospital for 28 days not one JW (except my mother) came to see me. I was willing to die without question and my mother was determined to let me die if necessary. It makes me shudder now to even think about it. I would have done the same to my sons, if it came to that. Thank God my husband was not a JW and I really feel I took comfort knowing that he would intervene if that situation ever occurred. (My poor husband put up with my brainwashed condition for 36 years.) I hope there is a God and that these horrible, sick past and present governing body members have to answer and be accountable for all the lives they have destroyed and ruined. Thanks for sharing all the information "behind the scenes" as to what was really going on in their sick minds about the blood issue. We really were sheep, weren't we? I wish my grandmother had never come into contact with them. How different all of our lives would have been. Thanks, Stacy, for another enlightening thought-provoking podcast. KEEP THEM COMING.

My father is 94 and I can see he is winding down, heading towards the grave, just like every one of us will not escape death. And I’ve let my siblings know I will NOT be attending a memorial service when he passes. I refuse to be in a KH with a bunch of hypocrites fake crying over how much they cared about him. I’ve watched how the JWs have tossed him to the side since he can’t do anything for them anymore. Love? Yeah they don’t know what that is, so they can’t give what they don’t possess.

I couldn't help but think of the solution every witness would say to this and that is: "those faithful ones are in Jehovahs memory" the cognitive dissonance is staggering. It absolves them of all guilt or responsibility in all areas.

Judge Joe Rutherford announced there was a 'great crowd' that would live on a paradise earth in 1935. Before that, everyone was going to heaven. Suddenly, Jesus decided to share a hope that would impact BILLIONS in 1935.....never mentioned it before this convention

What about the fact social security is to collected per Bethelties workers? Are they WT paying proper taxes for this? But if the worker signed off as volunteer or stay poor no way to sue or collect later I guess. Or maybe the Bethlites since income so low have to be on NY state Medicaid. I wonder if priests, monks, and nuns get social security benefits put away each month for them? I wonder if no Bethelites to do work...this lower work & membership of WT. Or maybe WT will get immigrants for S Americans and Mexicans to do the work at lower rate since cover expenses of food & shelter? I am just wondering .

No, but it has evolved over the past 25 years to include the allowance of 'blood fractions'....you can't take blood, but you cant take certain parts of blood. It's absurd....and all designed to protect them legally. Insane and deadly.

I refered to the bibles account of someone being filled with the holy Spirit before being water baptized. They made an excuse for it, and I politely walked away. Haven't sought them out since.

When I when to yhe Kingdom Hall in the early 90's they had more than a 1,000 annointed JW's in New York. You're not telling me there down to 9 guys are you????
Btw when I was at the Kingdom Hall we had an annointed "sister" who was married to an elder. She had no role in our congregation besides eating the bread and drinking the wine on the pass over once a year. There Bible says the annointed are 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel, all male virgins. That was one small reason I never got baptized, truly, I had many reasons. I went for about three years until I started making excuses and taking my time getting ready so my JW dad and step mom would leave to the meeting without me. I never got baptized, and I was punished for many years because of it. The religion is a cult like most religions, I will admit they have the right God though. Jehovah is God!
