Donna M: I couldn't have said it better myself. A genius who remains in touch with all of humanity and the real world. With a fantastic sense of humor.
OMG! I did not know Rick had such a great sense of humor. I loved it. I could listen to him all day. God Bless you Rick Wakeman. You're an earthly gem.
An incredible keyboardist, a wonderful human being. A faithful Christian with a humble heart. No Rick didn't pay me to say this....but he did say the check is in the mail.....
Love Wakeman! This bit was hilarious. I had the privilege and pleasure of having a drink or two with him in the early 80s. What a treat this video has been. Thank you!
This, this is wonderful. Rick's cranium is filled to the brim with unrivalled talent, yet there's still room for brilliant wit and good humor. Like YES members in all their incarnations, he's a treasure.
Rick you are not only brilliant and talented, but enormously patient and hilarious. Just saw you on the ARW tour ... thank you and Jon and all the band. It was wondrous.
Looks like a badass, sounds like a badass, plays like a badass. Something tells me he's a badass. Wish I knew about this guy earlier. Didn't know about Yes until Rock Band 3's release, let alone Rick in the band.
Haha, I love Rick ;) Not only is he a talented musician he has a great sharp & wicked wit - I'd love to go out with him for a night ;) I've said this all along, he really should still be on Planet Rock, he was a riot & never failed to do a great show-the naughtier the better;)
been following Rick since the Strawbs days, awesomely talented and graced with a great sense of humor.I would love to see you live again, part of my bucket list.
I hope there is a DVD produced of this concert as we won't be able to see it unless Rick is bringing his tour to Australia. Rick Wakeman is one of the worlds greatest musical genius', hope he never retires from music .... or telling jokes.
+Dave McKenzie You have great taste Dave! My 2 most favorite keyboard artists on the planet both equally blessed with great talent. We were all equally blessed growing up as teens during the time when they were just starting out and in their prime. The 1960's and 1970's were nothing less than musically magical eras the magnitude of which hasn't been matched nor exceeded since.
Rick used to play Golf at Sandown Park in Esher Surrey. I worked there at the time and managed a "Hello Rick" he responded and was a down to earth Great Bloke! 😀👍🎶🎶
hahaha I love you Rick. Too bad, I don't live in England and it's the first time I see this video. I missed it. Thank you for all your music, it will stay forever in my heart and in my memories. I never saw you play live, but my brother did and he was able to hang out with you for a while backstage and that's as if I had lived it too. Thanks again Rick.✊
I saw Wakeman and Anderson a while ago and Wakeman did a stand up comedy section and he was bloody hilarious. He could easily have been a comedian, but I'm glad he chose the path he did as we get the best of both worlds.
A student in Iasi, Romania, I first heard of Rick Wakeman in 1976. Ever since, his music has been part of my life. God bless him! He brought happiness to so many people.
Apparently I never knew Rick Wakeman! When I saw him back in the early 70s I saw him as the cape wearing wizard intellectual that was quiet spoke. I love this guy, he's hilarious!!
One of the 6 lives of Rick Wakeman, Glory boy, pensioner, one of the funiest of CRAZY horses, in contemptuous...I mean contemporary music today!!! Somebody now give him a fiver for the Cat Stevens ditty!
I saw Yes in the 1970's many times , All of them the best musicians I ever saw , Rick is just amazing , one of a kind. I've been playing 50 years , don't remember shit from my 20's , Rick remembers everything.
I have met Rick wakeman long ago here in Brazil and I had a very nice talk with him. He is a gentleman besides a musician genius. Greeting from Salvador Bahia Brazil
Just saw him solo at Solihull Arts Centre. Just him and a Yamaha Grand (and the audience) - really great ! He did Morning Has Broken (and some great anecdotes about this one, which still rankles), selections from King Arthur, Six Wives and (amongst many other pieces) Eleanor Rigby in the style of Prokofiev with a hilarious monologue between each one. He also did Life on Mars, or course and, between the notes, you could have heard a pin drop. Brilliant...
What a great guy, i was lucky enough to hear him play last night, this man is amazing. I'm not a piano man, however i will be purchasing his albums. Also a very funny man.
"only got seven people?" That will change now that Yes is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and stations are returning their attention to these wonderful musicians
rick, that was a pleasure. of all the music i had at my disposal as a child, i ended up with the deepest sonic groove in my brain and in my soul being the album yes fragile. you did good on heart of the sunrise. i would have known otherwise. i am the god of fragile. stay cool and play on.
Excellent musician with a lot of sense of humor. He deserves a better keyboard next time, doesn't he? Greetings to the "Wizard of the Keyboards". Respect!
I've seen Rick 3 times over the years: the Topogaphic Oceans tour with Yes in '73, Journey To The Center Of The Earth with the London Symphony in '74 and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in '75; but I think my favorite of his back then was The Six Wives Of Henry The VIII.
There's nothing better than a musical genius with a wicked sense of humor!
Is there any recordings of his Saturday shows years ago , when he used to tell jokes requested by listeners .
He had great Saturday show on planet rock.
The amount of times I had to pull over in the car, because I could not see from pissing my self so much!
Donna M: I couldn't have said it better myself. A genius who remains in touch with all of humanity and the real world. With a fantastic sense of humor.
One of a kind. Grumpy old genius. 💜💜👏👏😁😁
They couldn't even afford 8 octaves - LOL!
Poor Rick...only 5 octaves on the keyboard, no sustain petal & he left his cape at home! 😆 Yet, he did rise to the occasion!
Like the heart of the sun.
does anybody at planet rock has a spare cape?
OMG! I did not know Rick had such a great sense of humor. I loved it. I could listen to him all day. God Bless you Rick Wakeman. You're an earthly gem.
+John Nelson I like his Victorian accent.
John, have you read his books? "Grumpy Old Rock Star: and Other Wondrous Stories" There's a series, two or three of them. Very entertaining!
No. I didn't even know he authored books. I'll have to go check them out. Thanks for telling me.
That's been always his second talent, his first, the best PROG ROCK MUSICIAN OF ALL TIMES!!!
He was on a tv show in the UK called 'Grumpy Old Men' too :)
I love his brittish sense of humor! He's not being a snob, its sarcasm. A great video, loved it!
It’s being quick witted ...

+Steven Conrad
Don't you mean "humour?"
+Rezqewr not if he is american you douche
I always figured Rick had a big ego because he’s so talented, but this guy is hilarious and so cool.
Go Rick!!!
I never knew Wakeman was so hilarious. He's my all time favorite keyboardist but I didn't know the scope of his sense of humor until I saw this video.
"Heart of the Sunrise under my kilt!"
Rick makes playing keys look super easy, barely an inconvenience.
haha He looks a lot like the twins hahaha
I love Rick Wakeman!
+mootbooxle So do I.
Been checking your new Behringer stuff .
Love those new videos.
An incredible keyboardist, a wonderful human being. A faithful Christian with a humble heart. No Rick didn't pay me to say this....but he did say the check is in the mail.....
A great human being,he's hard to not like.
O my god not only is he the best musician of all time he is also one of the funniest. This video had me in stitches.
Rick Wakeman is a brilliant musician and has an awesome sense of humor.
Genius is making it all look and sound effortless. His mind just as sharp as his fingers and his wit laced with wisdom
When he joined YES, they soared !
Love Wakeman! This bit was hilarious. I had the privilege and pleasure of having a drink or two with him in the early 80s. What a treat this video has been. Thank you!
Love him! Love the honesty about his drinking. I play the piano and I can't believe how fast he gets the request then plays the music. Genius.
This, this is wonderful. Rick's cranium is filled to the brim with unrivalled talent, yet there's still room for brilliant wit and good humor. Like YES members in all their incarnations, he's a treasure.
S. J. Rich Agree...well said
Rick has such a great sense of humor.
"It's often up to the gentleman to create the rhythmic flow, and 13/8's not good" had me falling out of my chair laughing
Rick you're a legend. Thanks for your music man.
He’s got such an amazing quick wit! It’s good to see such a serious musician have so much fun in life.
What a brilliant musician with a great sense of humour !
His speech at the rock hall of fame is hysterical
Wow, a great Pianist, and he has a real personality too! Clever & witty . Thank you for this interview.
3 Blind Mice In 5 Keys was actually 🔥🔥🔥
Great to see Rick sober, loving the Lord and at such peace with life. Fantastic!
Rick you are not only brilliant and talented, but enormously patient and hilarious. Just saw you on the ARW tour ... thank you and Jon and all the band. It was wondrous.
No 2nd mic, sustain pedal, or higher/ lower octaves " due to price cut.."
The whole video is a laugh riot !
Heart of the Sunrise under his kilt???........a tiny glockenspiel perhaps.....WHAHAHAAA
I had no idea he did "morning has broken" for Cat. wow wow wow, what a talent this man is!
Also Space Oddity, David Bowie.
And life on Mars for Bowie as well. His piano playing is all over that song.
Looks like a badass, sounds like a badass, plays like a badass. Something tells me he's a badass.
Wish I knew about this guy earlier. Didn't know about Yes until Rock Band 3's release, let alone Rick in the band.
What??? You have GOT to check out their entire catalog! The single most amazing band EVER!
The funniest man in progressive rock! I still watch his speech from the RnR Induction ceremony!
My parents bought me 6 wives album for Xmas and I was so exited about getting it and spent many happy hours listening to it. Thanks Rick, you are ace.
Wakeman - a legend, phenomenally talented and wickedly clever!
You just cheered me up on a very bleak day. Always loved your work.

Brilliant ,Rick.... you never lose your touch, man .... ha ha.....!!
I hope there is a DVD produced of this concert as we won't be able to see it unless Rick is bringing his tour to Australia. Rick Wakeman is one of the worlds greatest musical genius', hope he never retires from music .... or telling jokes.
Absolutely wonderful Mr Wakeman! You appear as comfortable sitting for this silliness as I did watching. I've been a fan for 55+ years.
HAhaha funniest interviewish video i've seen, soo good haha
it's good to know he still rocking on and funny as always!
I'm a Keith Emerson fan, but I'm not stupid...This is as good as it gets.
+Dave McKenzie The 3 Olympians of prog keyboardists: Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, and Tony Banks.

I'm also an Emerson fan but,I've really come to appreciate Wakeman over the years.Cool guy.
great sense of humour for one of the 3 best keyboard player of all times!!! thanks RICK WAKEMAN
The bigger the genius, the more modest... This guy is so lovable!
This is cracking me up! Rick - comedy and keyboard genius!
What an amazing musician, keyboard player and person... wow!
Rick, if the keyboard thing doesn't work out, maybe standup could be in your future.
he is a great musician but his humour is great, too. it is great to see him this way
Rick used to play Golf at Sandown Park in Esher Surrey. I worked there at the time and managed a "Hello Rick" he responded and was a down to earth Great Bloke! 😀👍🎶🎶

Love how he rocks the ‘cheapo Novation’ 💚🎧🤦♀️ “they couldnt even afford eight octaves”
I spat my coffee at the 8 octave comment ;-) Hilarious!
Truly one of the UK's Living Treasures. And long may he remain so.
hahaha I love you Rick. Too bad, I don't live in England and it's the first time I see this video. I missed it. Thank you for all your music, it will stay forever in my heart and in my memories. what a brilliant man :) love his humour to bits
I saw Wakeman and Anderson a while ago and Wakeman did a stand up comedy section and he was bloody hilarious. He could easily have been a comedian, but I'm glad he chose the path he did as we get the best of both worlds.
He has magic fingers, magic hands and loves the music he plays !
Yes (and Rick) belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Indeed
+Mike Keller The million dollar question is Why isn't he?
Of course he does!! As does Keith Emerson, but the rock hall is focused on mediocre pop rockers.
Who cares about the RRHOF? Yes doesn't need their validation.
Adrian Rush Precisely. I liked how Alex Lifeson went "Bla Bla Bla" when Rush was finally inducted. The Rock Hall is a joke.
Just loved Rick's stories...
He was incredible in 1975 when I saw him in Ypsilanti Michigan.

What a legend, and so down to earth!
I have met Rick wakeman long ago here in Brazil and I had a very nice talk with him. He is a gentleman besides a musician genius. Greeting from Salvador Bahia Brazil

I can't stop laughing at his jokes. He's brilliantly funny! Love it!
Bloody Brilliant.....what a total star !!!!
So talented and charming and informative..thanks.
Just saw him solo at Solihull Arts Centre. Just him and a Yamaha Grand (and the audience) - really great ! I met him a couple of years ago when he played Ipswich, what a funny bloke :)
Beyond his musical talent, he's so funny!
What a great guy, i was lucky enough to hear him play last night, this man is amazing. I'm not a piano man, however i will be purchasing his albums. Also a very funny man.
Brilliant and hilarious in equal measure, as only Rick Wakeman can be!

the reference to money from tormato at the end with the ''partly satirical broadcast'' was great
He is funny and so incredibly talented !
