    How's it going, everybody?!
    Please welcome another restoration of mine! This one took a lot of time to accomplish! I used most of all of my tools in the shop and even had to learn a few things! Hope you gonna appreciate my input and watch it to the very end! Thanks for stopping by!

    Beautiful job! That was a lot of work. I admire your skill. My grandfather had a cleaver he used when he butchered hogs and cows. He had a foot operated grinding wheel to sharpen it. He sat on a seat and to use it. That was over 60 years ago.

    The part I liked the most is when you test the sharpening with real materials,turning paper into confetti (like many do) it is not what a cleaver was ever intended.
    You are good amigo, keep these videos coming.
    Greetings from Toronto.

      I know, right? Every time I saw someone cutting paper with cleaver, hatchet or an axe I couldn't get it... Why? They meant to chop!!! Greetings from Alberta.

    I think that's a great setup for the handle! however I think you went a little too slim on the end. Try making the end a bit bigger to prevent hand slippage and to prevent the end from splitting (or microcracking). Overall great restoration! love your vids, would like to see more!

    Nice. I like that the video of your processes do not waste time but are damd thorough where it needs be. Easy to follow and watch. There must have been a Hell of a lot of editing and persistence to get to the stage of presenting this well honed video.
    A question please ?
    What is the holding ring (hollow, sheath like onto wood) between the handle and blade called ? I'm trying to track down this item or something I can purchase pre made and barstardise if need be.
    Having a name for this "thing" would be Damd helpfully.
    Thank you.

    • @Take_And_Make

      One 3/8 rivet is more than enough, there’s plenty of epoxy too, on top of it this is a hidden tang handle.

    • @Take_And_Make
      @Take_And_Make  Před 2 lety

      I bought it on eBay, it came somewhere from Manitoba. So Canadian and definitely hand forged. Not sure how old though, could 100 years easily

    Full steel polished mirror Finnish would have added to the handles glory. Blade looked worked but rejuvenated but handle looked young. All in real neat job, well done. Let me add, not a technical guy, just an ordinary person

    The handle is too square to be practical and there was literally NO reason to "heat treat" that blade again. That's a common lie amongst the refurbishing channels. Nothing loses it's heat treat over time. It also doesn't have a hamon. A hamon is achieved by full submersion.

    • @Take_And_Make
      @Take_And_Make  Před rokem +1

      Dude, you have to learn to think before you speak up! The reason because I heat treated is that I overheated the blade while repairing it with welding.
      Second I agree, it doesn’t have hamon indeed, what you see is a different steel forge welded for the edge which showed after etching. So go shoot some arrows and relax, warrior! 🤣
