Write the height, width and length of your MH on your sun visor, in both metric and imperial.

When departing a campsite always do a walk around the van to make sure everything is unplugged, closed, locked and stowed away. I have seen a motorhome drive away with the electric cable still plugged in.

Try to avoid putting wet items in your motorhome. I check the overnight forecast on any last night on a site and if rain is forecast I put everything away before going to bed, even the EHU cable, all that moisture has to go somewhere.

Hi Kat, thank you for this great video. I don’t yet have a motor home but it’s on my wish list so watching your video certainly gives loads of great pointers. I can’t wait to have the chance to get motoring. Do you have any tips on travelling with a dog? Thanks, Nicci x

Great video. I’ve heard that wing mirror protectors adversely affect the radio signal. Is this an issue on modern Fiat-based models?

The manual for my motorhome might as well have been printed in Japanese because it was impossible to understand. It was only when I had a habitation check that the very kind chap went through everything with me and I made my own notes.

Have a routine for checking windows are shut, roof lights are down, doors are shut, outlets are closed and you aren’t attached to anything before leaving an overnight spot.

Your tip about a second leisure battery will depend on what you're plugging in and how much charge you're bringing in. I need two leisure batteries to run the fridge.

Sorry we are not on Facebook. Motoring tips from us. Ensure you driving licence covers you to drive van. Many car parks have a weight limit of 2,500kg so check first. Also supermarkets have noticed saying. Dogs in vehicles must not be unattended, left on their own. If you drive over a bridge and your van exceeds weight you can be done by Police for driving without due care and attention. Cheers from old George

    Hi Kat,
    Another useful vlog....keep them coming.
I asked this question in one of your previous videos, but I was too late....I admire your luggage box and rack combo mounted on the back of your motorhome. What makes are they and where did you buy them? Regards Sam

Hi Sam, We have a standard bike rack, and it's a lockable box we got from Amazon, which we've drilled to fit on permanently. Fiamma do a 'proper' one, but we prefer this one for several reasons. It's on this list if you're interested: www.amazon.co.uk/shop/wanderingbirdadventures?listId=3UJ7U5LVAYXLS&ref=cm_sw_em_r_inf_list_pub_wanderingbirdadventures_dp_YTQMAmxtSXKkg

Hi Jennifer. Are you in the Wandering Bird Facebook group? We asked that question in there a few days ago (link to join is in the video notes). But I’ll also do a video on this for you- will be out next week. Take care.

Hi When wild camping where can we empty a cassette toilet while on the road please. Jenny

    • @Jabber-ig3iw
      @Jabber-ig3iw Před 3 lety +2

Public toilets, local campsites. Cassette toilets must only ever be emptied down a toilet or proper chemical disposal point.
Never ever down a drain, even grey waste shouldn’t really go down the drain, drains are for rain water, not washing up/shower waste.
I’m sure you wouldn’t but some people just empty it where ever they stopped for the night🙄🙄 sure fire way to get motorhomes banned from everywhere.

Run your fridge on gas for the first 30 minutes you are on a site even if you have EHU. Keeps the gas nozzle free of crud and the system circulating.
The biggest reason why fridges start playing up on gas is lack of use. If you predominantly use electricity for you fridge, eventually it will start playing up.
