- You asked for it, we delivered. Here's Christian, aka FrugalAesthetic, aka resident anime hater, taking a look at the fits from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. We focused mainly on the Joestar line for this video, and more importantly on Araki's art for the characters. Will they have drip, or will they drown?

i remember watching part 4 for the first time and seeing him with a new outfit every episode. He became my favourite jojo character on drip alone, his personality and abilities are just and added bonus

I can explain the weird proportions!
They were done that ways on purpose to account for the double spread. Since in a manga, you'd have some kind of indentation due to the shape of the book, the large proportions were made so they look natural in the book. Of course, this means that the original drawings look weird, because they weren't meant to be shown in the original form.

That’s kinda genius of Araki, unfortunate that they look weird in scans but I can appreciate him going the extra mile like that for the physical books
Dude, the elongated leg is because it's a double-page spread. It looks normal if you have the manga physically, the author extended the leg to not look too short.

I'd like to see more of the part 5 characters, because all of passione is insane. Also I'd like for you to look at the pieces araki draws when he does colaborations with fashion brands. He's worked with Gucci, Balenciaga and Converse

Part 4 is hindered by the fact that everyone in the season is pretty much a normal person, even kira. His whole thing was wanting a simple life, so he couldn't afford to be walking around dripped out like dio. They would have clocked him immediately 😂
Only rohan had drip but tbh it was enough to compensate for everyone else

it might also be worth noting what years these jojo's are from, and it may either further help or hurt these rankings:
Part 1 (Johnathan and dio) is in England, 1888
Part 2 (Young Joseph Joestar) is in 1938 and 1939 in america, then mexico
Part 3 (Jotaro's first fit, and then dio again, namely what is being shown) is in japan, then road trip to egypt in 1988-89
Part 4 (Josuke and Kira) is in the spring of 1999 in japan
Part 5 (Giorno) is in 2001 Italy, and is decidedly using character design based on high fashion
Part 6 (Jolyne, Anasui and Pucci) is in 2011-12 in florida
Edit: I have been reminded that the latter 2/3rds of part 2 took place in the Swiss-italian area. Thank you in the comments for the correction!

Fun fact for Christian: Narciso Anasui actually was introduced as a female in the manga, but in the next chapter Araki decided to draw Anasui as a man and kept him that way for the rest of Stone Ocean. He said he wanted Anasui to be a man instead, to go beyond the normal standards of beauty.
Isn't Anasui canonically Genderfluid? Araki in later interviews has been quoted saying that Jump stopped him from making Joleyne lesbian and so in response he constantly fucked w/ Anasui's gender presentation
Anasui is possibly physically gender fluid, but not mentally. But that's mostly because Diver Down is, very creative

He did the same thing for Valentine in Part 7, where he was originally drawn as an overweight dude, but the very next panel, he's a svelt chad.
Should have done Bites the Dust Kira drip. The white accents in his hair look very fashionable
I love how Christian started with the hate in his heart, but it still was mostly positive and aside from Anasui and Jolyne these were the simpler picks. Like Giorno got ok drip, and Josuke too... but Buccarati and Rohan be in the ocean drowning in style.
Also Narciso was originally going to be a girl so ya'll questioning your sexualities was hilarious cause the original design aint that far off when they first show up in the manga. Don't know if it was censorship or just Araki wanted them to be a dude after thinking about it but that designs out there to find.
Araki explained in a Q&A that he intended to portray Anasui as androgynous
Buccarati is dripping off the chain, but the most swagged out of Part 5 is either Proscuitto or Mista. Mista canonically spends the most on his clothes, including his cashmere sweater and zebra-leather pants. Proscuitto's fit is inspired by a Vogue model.
For Joseph big chicken leg the proportions were like that because the leg wrapped around the middle of the manga, so it looked normal. In digital it sucks since they just scan both pages and it comes out flat.
Kira's actually wearing a Valentino suit, same as Patrick Bateman. The only part of Kira derived from David Bowie is above the neck
Also yeah, you guys gotta do another one and cover all the part 5 characters
He’s probably not inspired by Patrick Bateman due to the timeline. The book was released in 1991, but only translated to Japanese in 1995 and part 4 started in 1992.
Ok, so you definitely need to do a new one for Bleach fits covering Thousand Year Blood War fits. 10x better than the earlier ones.
Gonna have to wait till the main cast actually gets those new fits though.
I accept the fact that early JoJo fit is mid but surprisingly very little high tiers, also I am surprised you took a look at Annasui and not Diavolo

Okay, what Jonathan has is whats called a "sleeper build" in bodybuilding. A baby face with bulked muscles, he was focused aesthetics not the fashion mainly. Mostly the efficiency of martial arts and muscles.
Josuke from Part 8 definitely has the best standard fit out of all tghe JoJo protags imo. I like Yasuho's as well.

The side characters is where the drip is
Just a small thing, the proportion in 2:40 art is so off and stretched because the leg is supposed to fold in the middle of the page when you are looking at it on paper. It wasn't meant to be viewed as a full art when it was made. A lot of Araki's old art has that weird stretch in the middle because it was never meant to be viewed as a full art poster like we do now, the art was meant to be viewed with the folding of the paper. It's really noticeable with limbs stretching, but you can also see it with backgrounds and buildings, one funny example is one weirdly long window among many normal looking ones during the fight with Straitso
