- Conceived in the Spring of 2013 but not truly composed until later that summer, my Berimbau Duo no. 5 is dedicated to my student, Alexis Lamb. It was inspired by a duo improvisation that Alexis and I played together in the Spring of 2013 during the course of our Undergraduate Artistry and Research Apprenticeship Program (UARAP) research project at Northern Illinois University. The UARAP program allows faculty "to engage undergraduates in their artistic and other scholarly activities in one-to-one mentorships." Through Projeto Arcomusical, we have embarked upon the composition of a numeric series of berimbau chamber works, one per semester through the Spring 2015.

I enjoyed this. Had only heard a berimbau on Sepultura/Soulfly albums before this and I like how diverse it can sound, from something almost alien to something almost angelic. Excellent.
Esse instrumento é ancestral do Berimbau, o nome desse instrumento é Kalumbu

Excellent!
Great music, well performed!
Beautiful!! 🤝👏👏👏
Thanks so much, Oak&Iron!
This music feels both contemporary and incredibly archaic! I was wondering how early hunter gatherers used bows as musical instruments thousands of years ago.
Wonderful.
this is beautiful

Valeu, Josy!
Very nice. I enjoyed this
Thanks for listening
nice composition
Jesus, how did you remember all that? Ahahah. The notation must be looking really alien. At first I was really sceptical seeing berimbau used like that, but listening for a while I must give the credit for the complexity and the duet-synchrony-performance overhead. It sounds almost like a harp (!!!). The girl not wearing the shoes was the least weird thing in this situation xD
How can I get started and where can I find a Berimbau for sale in the USA? Thank you!
