Hey guys! I have a fun tutorial for you today that will each you how to create this unique leaf pattern that runs along a vine. Let’s get started.
Set up - Cut 4 pieces of string, each piece is 2 meters in length. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots. When finished I had about 50cm of cord left hanging underneath the leaf for all cords except the filler cord which I had about 80cm left. So you’ll need approx. 50cm of cord per leaf except for the filler cord requires less. I should note too that this pattern along with many of my other patterns can be made using most sizes of string or rope, but note that the bigger the size the more cord you will need.
Use the cord on the right as your filler cord and tie 7 double half hitch knots (DHHKs) working down and to the left.
Use the second cord from the left as your filler cord and tie 6 DHHKs working underneath your first row of DHHKs. Create 3 more rows using the same process as the first row.
To create the second half of the leaf repeat the same process back across your work tying 4 rows of 6 DHHKs.
Using the outside left cord as your filler cord tie 7 DHHKs underneath the last row of DHHKs. Hold the first half hitch and then secure the knot in place with with the second half hitch.
You have now made one leaf. Repeat this pattern to make additional leaves. I’ll tie a few DHHKs here as if I were starting another leaf to show you what the design looks like in between each leaf.

Its good you mentioned that one leaf uses approximately 50cms of cord. One can estimate the length of cords accordingly for making longer pattern.
I can’t wait to try this, thanks so much for sharing
