@@TimoRosenberg it's one thing i noticed about them.
Unlike others, they actually paint a second picture in my mind.
Stargasm reminds of a dark, rainy sea with how it is played and what riffs are being used.
"Tread lightly" has powerful, big vocals. Guitar riff adds to it greatly.
"Ember city" & "Word of the wise" just sound right in any aspect imo.
They are interesting to listen to, mixing heavy riffs and chugging with something more melodic, I don't exactly know how to put it into right words.
If i sound like a fanboy, it's because their music is the only one that managed to touch my soul in different ways.
I see what you mean and I absolutely agree! Everything is connected and works together, no one is in the spotlight but at the same time everybody is mandatory! And they just cover such a wide spectrum as you said... While one Song is super heavy and strong the next one can be very calm and full of feelings... Not a lot of bands that can execute both that well 😄 I grew pretty late into mastodon, only two years ago or so, but by now they became one of my favorite Bands 🤘🏻 definitly gotta do some to some more Songs of them 😁

Everything is balanced imo, every instrument (including vocals) is there for just right amount, nothing's overpowering each other. None of it is too much.
They seem to pay a lot of attention to putting(?) accents on certain song parts to give it a certain mood.
I myself discovered them just a year ago.
Didn't think much of them since I'm mostly listening to metal, both fast chugs like Lamb of God - Embers & Hourglass, Decapitated - Homo Sum and slow and heavy stuff like Korn and Black Sabbath - Damaged soul.
I wonder if there are other bands that are similar to Mastodon.
