  • I try my hand at center pin fishing for Lake Ontario carp. If you haven't fished Lake Ontario for carp before you're absolutely missing out! This summer I've targeted these fish on the fly rod, spinning reel and today I try and land one my center pin gear.
    Hope you enjoy!

    Mr. Andrew, you are the man. Pinning for carp, has to be a blast. One thing you need to do though when fighting them, is to take the pin off the clicker and fight them on free spool. Nice carp you got there and lost a big one as well. Looked like a great time out there.

      I'll try that next time for sure. The sound helped me figure out how much distance he was running. Such a blast is right! Got your boat ready? Countdown is on!!!

    Nice job on the center pin. I tried it once. Definitely a learning curve to that thing.

      100% I gave up on it a few times at first, especially when you have a float on their, but this was honestly so much fun and really simple.

    Andrew looking sharp!:)
    Nice carp on centerpin!
    I’ll have to buy a centerpin rod for salmon/steelhead season!
    Was that the Raven RV9 13.6?

    • @ActuallyAndrewFishing
      @ActuallyAndrewFishing  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes sir, I got it when I was spending a lot of time at the whirlpool. Originally I had bought a Raven IM6 rod, but a friend convinced me to upgrade to an IM9 as a rod like this should last a lifetime. Its a blast!

    • @FishonFishgone
      @FishonFishgone Před 4 lety +1

      I’ve seen the rod looks really good,I’m wondering if it would come in like 6-12 pounds medium fast action.
      That’s my dream rod, I like something with more back bone...

    • @ActuallyAndrewFishing
      @ActuallyAndrewFishing  Před 4 lety +1

      @@FishonFishgone Yeah I see what you mean, I was thinking this rod was lacking a little back bone. It flops around quite a bit when I grab the rod off the stand I noticed.

    • @FishonFishgone
      @FishonFishgone Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Andrew, no judging.....
      Everyone has its own preference...
      I’ve already been to the fishing store, and I was not able to find what I want, at least not in 12-13 foot length...
      I might have to use a telescopic rod from Europe,those have more backbone...

    • @ActuallyAndrewFishing
      @ActuallyAndrewFishing  Před 3 lety

      Hey Izzy, thanks for checking out the video and for subbing! Out of principal I don't give out exact locations of the videos for two reasons. 1 is so that it encourages other to explore and the 2nd its to be mindful that i don't want to blow up a particular spot for others. In the summer lots of the weedy bays in Lake O will hold carp. I also walk the various shorelines and marinas with my dog and spot a lot of good spots that way too. cheers Andrew

    • @ActuallyAndrewFishing
      @ActuallyAndrewFishing  Před 4 lety

      @@JS-te4gz Yeah, I think the bite will get hot again once the water temps drop. I plan on targeting Salmon soon.
