This video shows Lesley Vainikolo at his very best during his 5 year spell at The Bradford Bulls from 2002 -2007.
On the 5th September 2005 Lesley posted six trys in one Superleague game against Hull FC, a record that still stands today.
His speed, strength and power are the atributes of this one off athelete and what made him a star of both codes. He went to Gloucester after The Bulls and scored five trys in his first game away against Leeds on the 16th September 2007. He then went on to play for England at an interntional level. - Sport
If I remember correctly. The match against Hull was their final match of the season and Lesley was the second highest try scorer behind Danny Maguire by 5. Those 6 tries pushed him to the top spot and what a joy it was to witness.
Yes indeed, well remembered...
I work in Bradford and all the locals still gab on about him!!!

It was an honour to be at his final game at Odsal. We gave him a great send off

Hes dfeinately in my top bradford 13, id have newlove as his centre though, shontayne was good but could step/score like newlove.
Great comments
Although NRL is a MUCH higher standard than SL, there are still some teams getting mullered in matches. The Bulls were awesome at their peak and it's such a shame they will probably be playing in the English 3rd tier next season...all down to terrible miss-management of the club's finances.
how could they go broke?....huge fan base, owned their own ground.
Thanks for watching
That's only a Superleague record though.
Pre Superleague, both Martin Offiah (1992) and Shaun Edwards (1993) have each scored 10 tries in games, playing for Wigan.
All-time record is 11 in a game, by George West of Hull KR, back in 1905.

Yeah, I was there at Central park. A dark, dark day for Leeds fans. Wigan played with Leeds like a cat with a ball of wool that day.
was that when Wigan was in effect the only professional team in the league?
