    Mark Goddard was one of my childhood heroes along with Adam West and Ron Elly. Mr. Goddard became a teacher and I wish I could talk to him. I'm a teacher too. Anyway it's very good to watch him in Johnny Ringo, a series older than Lost in Space. Thanks a lot. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!

    Having gone to Jr & Sr high with Mark or as we called him Chuck, I would like to tell all at how good an athlete he was then and how nice a perso he was then and is now. A few years ago I used to see him almost daily when he was attending school. Now that he has a job in another town several miles away I haven't seen him in about 3 yrs. I ran a convenience store and one day he came in and had autographed pictures from Lost In Space for all the employees. That was very nice. Hi Mark.

    i'm 62 & grew up with the great tv westerns & war series along with about a million other kids - we played with guns inside outside & we did not turn homicidal maniacs - back in the 50's - weak minded kids nowadays - too bad - whatta time to grow up back then - can't beat it

    The Johnny Ringo actor, looks quite a bit like Val Kilmer in a black and white, Western. I saw this show on a nostalgia TV station, probably nickelodeon. Back in the 90's. Thought it was a pretty cool concept, for an old cowbell show. Only watched it that one Sunday,. Never saw it before, or since. Nice to see this very unique Aaron Spelling creation, again. Thank you for posting.

    The series aired on Thursdays at 8:30pm(et), following "THE BETTY HUTTON SHOW"; both lasted one season. Lorillard Tobacco [Kent] was the series' sponsor (the first and third commercials, produced in New York, were originally videotaped, and transferred to kinescope film for this print).
    29:15- "'DICK POWELL'S ZANE GREY THEATER' is next, on the CBS Television Network".

    The Deputy Sheriff is Mark Goddard (born Charles Harvey Goddard; July 24, 1936) is an American actor who has starred in a number of television programs. He is probably best known for portraying Major Don West, the adversary of Dr. Zachary Smith (played by Jonathan Harris), in the CBS series Lost in Space (1965-68). He also played Detective Sgt. Chris Ballard, The Detectives, starring Robert Taylor.

    Notice the special gun that has the 7th bullet or was it shotgun shell?
    It was the star of the show and saved Ringo often when villains thought he was out of bullets.
    Other special guns were the sawed off winchester in Wanted Dead or Alive and Wyatt Earp's long barrel pistols. The Rifleman had the custom rifle with round lever. These made great cap guns you could buy in toy stores as a kid. Those were the days.

    • @VinDcator
      @VinDcator Před 9 lety +3

      The .410 actiually did fit certain pistols. The cartridges for a .410 would not fall directly out of the cylinder, so it was still in the chamber. The rest came from Ringo's quick reaction to the dropped gun, after taking out the first gun and beating the others out of the draw. Perfectly executed. Not unlike real.

    • @algallagher6387
      @algallagher6387 Před 7 lety +4

      the revolver with the shotgun barrel is a LaMatt. it saw limited use by the confederacy during the civil war. the chamber for the shotgun was in the center of the revolving cylinder. it chambered an approximately 20 gauge charge. the real LaMatts were cap and ball guns and not known as being pleasant to shoot (shotgun barrel). they were not very reliable either. you can find modern reproductions today.

    About the micronite filters in the cigarette ads.
    "Lorillard named its first filtered cigarette for Herbert A. Kent, briefly its president, and aggressively touted the superiority of the Micronite filter, a blend of cotton, acetate, crepe paper, and crocidolite asbestos-sometimes called “African” or “Bolivian blue” asbestos because of its bluish tint."

    Rare series. this was one of Aaron Spelling's really early shows,likely spun-off from
    "ZANE GREY'S WESTERN THEATER" from the people at Four Star,the production
    outfit,that did "TRACKDOWN","WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" and "THE RIFFLEMAN"-
    all part of the great TV Westerns of the 50s and 60s. Mark Goddard was a series'
    regular,shortly before working in another Four Star TV series,"THE DETECTIVES",
    and eventually as "Don West",from CBS's "LOST IN SPACE".

      +Mark Lasserre Agree completely. While the plot in "The Posse" did not really need Karen, her presence IS the bright spot making the story MUCH better. The same can be said of almost all other Johnny Ringo stories. The one story I've seen without Karen,(The Accused, Story 3) I definitely miss her presence. I think her relationship to Johnny, Case and Cully humanize the male characters, making the stories MUCH better.

    "...on your appaloosas gentlemen..." Really? Neither of those mounts looked like an appie to me. This has to be an example of the worst TV western of the era. Some of these actors were TV regulars back in the day and they mostly delivered far better performances than this, which suggests the problems here were writing and direction/production. The whole Ringo character is totally out of line - not even close to historical reality. The real Ringo was a lunatic killer who either committed suicide or received his just desserts from Doc Holliday depending on what version you believe - definitely not some goodie two-shoes as depicted here.
