If I stay in the states, I'm looking at the company that makes this. Actually not a 'kit' car.....in the sense they build turn key vehicles. These use a tube steel chassis....not a shortened VW pan and have all Subie suspension and brakes. Yeah, I can see where maybe it should remain badgeless. I think you're looking at $50-55K. no idea about shipping. Not that much really in today's world, but quite a lot considering this is a weekend toy. Paint work looks great in the vid.

Yeah, I agree the term 'kit' car seems a bit rough as it's more of a complete car. However, it doesn't get a full 17 digit VIN either, just a specialty constructed vehicle 'short' VIN, which means that it's technically a kit car. But, what a marvelous kit car it is! I was looking at a real one on an online auction a few days ago and it's really striking how different the engine placement is on the factory built car (which is truly rear engine).

@@stevetheodore_specialtycars Thanks for the reply. If I were go the replica route, this is the one that I would choose over the VW based. Dont get me wrong... I currently run a modded MK6 sportwagon, so not a knock on VW. But pan chassis and old school suspensions and carbs no longer cut it in my book. Yes, they are more period correct, but if not a real 356....does it matter?

@@joseph-ow1hf I agree that it doesn't matter and this replica really does seem like a tremendous way to go. A well engineered solution you can enjoy regularly

@@stevetheodore_specialtycars Obviously agree. W/ the modernized version, you get ABS, and air/con if optioned. My VW dealer has a real 356 in showroom that was race prepped. I'll bet it's worth at least $250 K, if not more. Price of vintage Porsche is still off the charts. But IMO they do build the best sports cars in the world. Who knows, I might end up in Germany. Maybe cheaper there. Will miss my little VW wagon. It's a sleeper.

I remember thinking similarly when I saw the factory style badges to be honest. On the one hand, it's clearly a kit car and not a factory built Porsche but on the other hand what could it actually be? Meaning I think it would be more offensive to put a factory badge on plenty of other imposters. But, I totally hear you!

@@stevetheodore_specialtycars exactly if I built a toy model I would put the badge on with impunity
