  • Bubble Boy. Holly-Anna Jones is in Texas on the search for the next crystal, but due to a misunderstanding finds herself doing housework in preparation for a birthday party instead. But perhaps that director of television ads for soap and his wife can help out more than anyone realises. Meanwhile, T-Shirt takes a bath.
This is the fourth episode of Turn On to T-Bag, originally broadcast on Tuesday, 26th January, 1988, and is sometimes simply referred to as Dallas. Elizabeth Estensen and John Hasler are of course the regular antagonists, while the guest roles are filled by Colin Bennett (from Take Hart and Hartbeat, and Zarquon in The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy) and Lois Baxter (a regular on Corrie in the mid-70s, Lamia in Doctor Who's The Androids of Tara, and apparently still working in things like Doctors). Colin's fantastic line, "We can do anything with soap," is delivered with such utter conviction that I actually believe him, while I'm going to add "Up at the crack of noon" to my mental list of stand-by quips and witticisms. Listen out for Tallulah briefly slipping into full-on cartoon Northerner as she mocks the ad near the end, while the confusion over all the initials made me laugh, too - great stuff all round.
The protagonist in this series, meanwhile, was played by Diana Barrand, who doesn't exactly have an extensive IMDB, but I did manage to pick her out in a few places in this Splash Special on my channel:
    • Splash Special: School...
Far more interestingly, Diana was later in a band with Sally Ann Marsh and Dani Behr called Faith, Hope & Charity, and she's the dark-haired one in this:
    • Faith Hope & Charity "...
No, really - that's her. Unbelievably, that's from 1990, which is just over two years on from this episode airing.
And if all that isn't enough for you, at the beginning and end of this recording there's even some very rare Children's ITV continuity from Network Control featuring none other than everyone's favourite love triangle, Rod, Jane and Freddy. You can't say you don't get good value round these parts.
Grateful thanks to Lee for providing this recording.
