It's a matter of control and familiarity. I'm pretty sure he's been doing the same thing since he was in born of Osiris. Plus he has great control over his picking so he probably picks lighter on the low string
I can tune lower then that with my 6 string Ibanez,it can sound lower the a fucking 8 string while 4 of the others are in tune,it mostly because of the shitty intonation it’s on but still
