    For my "dead" Archer c7V5 helped few steps 1. Hold reset button (when holding reset and then turn off, then you see sign of arrows "WPS" turning green) 2. it's very important to name BIN file correctly in my case "ArcherC7v5_tp_recovery.bin"

    Sir being a firmware tech, for buses here in the Uk, I find myself in a somewhat embarrassing situation. I have a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v3 which was running Openwrt. BEFORE I watched this video, I tried to reflash stock firmware using Openwrt [don't do it folks] it seems to have over written the bootloader, any ideas? I have yet to break in to it, both in software and physically ;) Great video. I like the tftp idea for flashing, going to look into that for work.

    Thank you for making such a detailed video. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked for me. I have read through the comments for more troubleshooting steps and none of the suggestions worked.
    The router is an tp link archer C8 v1 . So it’s the dual band ac1750 version. I tried to update firmware using the directions on the website and it failed to reboot after the installation. All the router does now is light up the “USB” led. No other LEDs light/blink/react to anything.
    I followed your directions, confirmed the correct IP address, verified firewall settings for both private and public settings, eventually turned off the firewall altogether, uninstalled and reinstalled the 64bit version, confirmed my OS is running windows10 64bit, and tried another computer.
    I cannot pick up anything on the log viewer in the tftpd64 program. I’ve tried resetting multiple times and still no luck. Powered the router down, held down reset/wps button, flipped the toggle switch to ON, counted 4 “Mississippi’s” released. Even tried counting to 5 just in case I wasn’t holding it down long enough, and still nothing on the log.
    Your help would be appreciated sir. Thank you in advance.

      Like I mentioned, when it powers on, Only the USB led comes on blue. Router does not appear to be booting up and therefore I cannot even connect to it. None of the Ethernet ports/ wan port light up when a cable is plugged in. Plugging in into any of the ports always gives me an “unidentified network” at the Ethernet adapter settings page.

    Thanks for the great guide! I followed all your steps trying to unbrick an Archer A7v5 thats stuck in a boot loop, but unfortunately it didn’t fix it.
    In TFTP64, the progress bar pops up, goes about 70%, and then disappears. I get the confIrmation that the file was sent in the TFTP64 log, but my Archer A7v5 is still in a boot loop. In fact, I am wondering if the boot loop is is cutting off the TFTP process.
    Maybe the bin file is transferred, but isn’t writing to flash? I’ve tried the TPlink factory recovery bin, openwrt recovery bin, and ddwrt recovery bin, and then every other bin I could find. They all result in the same questionable premature progress bar, and continued boot loop.

My Archer AX6000 Router does not load the firmware, it has an endless blue light and I have no connection, the problem started when the internet connection was very slow, so I restarted the router and since then nothing has loaded. I have tried to use your method with this model but it doesn't work, connectivity between the router and the PC running TFTP is never achieved. An additional problem is that, there is no LAN connection between the AX6000 ports and the laptop in any of the 8 ports that this AX6000 has. Any idea of the problem? Thank you.

    Hi Richard, Thanks for all your valuable vid's. have a question, A router is remote which I can manage but need to over-write the admin password. So even if its back to factory default, the password will be a new one I've created/updated.... NOT the original 'admin'

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  Před 2 lety

      I'm not sure if you're asking a question or making a statement here but I have never seen a factory reset of a router not reset the password back to the factory default (by design this makes sense). Now you could use third party firmware like DD-WRT which allows you to reset the router and NOT have a factory password at all.
      If you reset a DD-WRT router to defaults it forces you to change the username and password on the first log in. The only problem with that is that you have to do that from a local machine connected to the internal LAN or LAN ports of the router or WIFI. So this doesn't really solve your problem as you still can't do this remotely but you could have someone who is using the network reset the router and password after which they could load up a default configuration to the router and it would set it back to what you wanted. Another option is to configure two routers identically and if anything ever happens to the primary router you could just swap out the routers and have the faulty one shipped to you for repair.

    Hi Richard, just a question.. if my computer's ethernet adapter is not reading any signals from LAN cable connected to the router (red X on network adapter), will TFTP client recovery work?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa  Před 2 lety +1

      There a few possibilities for failure here; The LAN port on your computer may not bet functioning. You may have a bad Ethernet cable. Try a known good cable. You can do a simple LAN cable test by plugging both ends of the cable into the router. It should light up two ports and that would also tell you the ports on the router are working too. In your case if the two ports don't light up it may also mean that the LAN ports are not working. But make sure first that you know you have a good cable. If you can not get a network connection to your router after you know you have a good port on your PC and a known good cable try every port on your router. Sometimes a single LAN or multiple LAN ports can be blown. Thank you for watching, commenting and the valuable feedback. I appreciate it greatly. All the best. 👍😀

      @richardlloydusa  Před 2 lety +2

      First make sure you have set up the IP address EXACTLY like I show in the video. If that is correct and it still does not work unistall and reinstall the TFTP software. Be sure to handle the firewall questions correctly. If all the above does not work you can try turning off the Windows firewall or whatever firewall you are running and see if that works and if all that fails try it in a different computer and again make sure you let the TFTP server access through the firewall. The firewall is the usual reason for no response on the log veiwer. BTW which router are you trying to rescue?

      It might be your firewall settings. If you can turn off the firewall do so, If not uninstall completely the TFTP program and reinstall it. Make SURE to answer to allow, I believe both check marks in the firewall questions, the TFTP program to pass through the firewall (See the video). Also double check you have the IP address set correctly as I show in the video and last but not least make SURE you have a good Ethernet cable connected to the router in a LAN port NOT the WAN or Internet port and make sure you have a good connection to your computer. Another thing you can try as well is do the whole procedure on a different computer. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

      Now I don't own a TD-W9960 so I can't verify if the above procedure works but you don't really have much to lose by trying it. BTW I would just try the stock firmware in the rescue mode first without editing the firmware with the hex editor.
