This is a new technique unknown to me until this morning. I am so happy I discovered this art form. It is amazing. I have now seen a flower with 6 leaves and your beautiful butterfly. Thank you. I am going to look for more. I very much enjoy the silence and the focus and relaxing but also with some tension in the air. Just completely enjoyable and fascinating.
Thank you for leaving such a great comment Mickey, it’s great to know that people take joy from what I do 🙏🏻😁
Muito lindo;
😃
beautiful work, but wish you would include a narration of the colors laid and change in tools and the steps taken either while working or added to the video verbally or in text written on the bottom...would help in the understanding.
thanks, I wish I had the time, I'll try and get to it :)

Very pretty. It would be nice to hear your thought process and more about the types of paints, tools, etc.
Hi, thanks for commenting. I have plans to do more in depth tutorials, struggling to get organised with home schooling and restrictions on being in my studio. Watch this space though and feel free to make as many suggestions as you like 😁
Mind blowing beautiful work. What kind of colors you are using for this work???
Ebru powder pigments prepared with water and ox gal acid. Takes about 2 months to prepare the paint well. Many marblers use acrylics.
Hi sir thanks for your video can you tell me what kind of colour can I use in this water painting
I use powdered pigments blended with ox gal acid from Turkey
Ian from Newcastle
Spot on my friend
love to know how you do tiger's eye
Hello James, I just found you because I was searching for easy paper marbling techniques to do with my grandchildren during our lock down; then I spotted this beautiful butterfly!!!
I hope to catch up with all your videos, but in the meantime could you tell me what kind of paper you're using please? I did some of the usual shaving foam and nail varnish marbling on cheap watercolour paper and cardstock many decade ago with my son, but I never on thinner paper, just wondering if it's something special? I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well!
Hi, I'm so sorry I missed your question, the notification system failed. I mostly use ordinary copy paper, you can try coloured copy paper too. Experiment with any scrap paper you have, sometimes you get interesting results by just getting stuck!
@@JamesMouland Thank you James💙
Christiane, high quality inkjet printer paper works perfectly.
@@a3dpntr Oh thank you for that info., I have tried so many different papers, including Yupo paper with varying degrees of success, but now i'm eager to try your suggestion. Luckily I have an inkjet printer so have plenty of the right paper. I don.t know why I never thought to try that, so many many thanks! 🤩
You should be an artist
You should be a comedian
Hello could you please upload a video of how to prepare water for marbling or ebru art
Ok I’ll do it during the Christmas holidays, I’m a bit busy at the moment. Do you have access to materials? I use carrageenan or methyl cellulose
Email me and I’ll forward you a .pdf that my students get when they come for a lesson. studio@jamesmouland.com
I am enchanted to watch you and never knew or heard about it. What is in the water so the color stays on top?
That’s lovely I’m so happy to be able to introduce this incredible art form to new people. We thicken the water with plant based thickeners such as carrageen from seaweed or methyl-cellulose
@@JamesMouland Thank you so much, I was wondering why the paint is swimming on top....😁😁

😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮
😃
Beautiful. But I have one question; what or which paint are you using?
Turkish Ebru pigments blended with ox gal and water
@@JamesMouland thank you
What did you use to spread the wings apart, was it some sort of soap?
In Turkish Ebru we use gal as the surfactant to control surface tension
Does the gall go in the water or in the paint bottle? Thank you.
With Turkish techniques we prepare the paint with water and the gall acid it takes around 1/2 months of regular stirring
@@JamesMouland so you add the gall acid into paint jar one time and.not each time you use the paint. Thank you.
It’s an ongoing process when you use organic materials you have to keep adding and adjusting and stirring it’s very much alchemy
Good job but narration wouldve been better
Fair point, I’ll consider doing this in new videos. Have you watched others of mine?
Came here to say the same
Messy...and not very delicate looking ...
I was surprised by your answer. I'm wondering if you could point me toward some other demonstration you would recommend?
I shall endeavour to improve
