- Quite possibly the most dangerous games one could ever play, are those who compel you to keep playing till the sun comes up.
And one of the most notorious cases is that of Factorio. But good ol factorio has got nothing on a little game named Mindustry.
Join me as I lead you on a crappy journey through this amazing little game.

Back in my day, mindustry didn't have thorium (we had uranium), neither did we have units to build, nor did we have a campaign. It was literally just a map with only turrets, and without any smooth graphics, being the worst pixelated graphics in all of reality.
It's nice to see this game has gotten far far, far better than it used to be.
And OP shields
I remember playing v5 and just fooling around on a map where enemies wouldn’t come out at all, I learned how to use the mechanics well but v6 came. And then I discovered mindustry on CZcams. I only seriously started playing by the end of v6 and through early v7 betas. But you, sir are a true veteran, thanks for sticking around the mindustry community through all this time.
it's nice that you renember old mindustry
Bruh. Classic mindustry graphics is slick af. Btw the game still exists for free on mobile.
All I want to know is what mindustry 2 and 1 was like
Fun fact, in update 5 the core actually backed up if you sent materials into it and it was full. It was changed in update 6 because it made sending mixed belts of resources into the core impossible, because one resource filling up would stop the others on the belt from going in. You can still change it back to the previous setting in a menu, but I've never felt the need to when you can use overflow gates like you described.
The burning of excess materials serve another purpose - it will make sure the sector keeps producing materials when you are in another sector, since the sector production is based on the average flux of items into the core. If items no longer flow into the core since the core is full, your production will be judged as "low" and your sector won't produce as much when you're somewhere else.
Sorters with incinerators was the way to fix that.
I miss v5 unit grouping mechanic. But I won't give spaghetti belt up in v6 for it
I thought the comment said the core would back you up
Q
The addition of armor belts have made clogs less of an issue for those who know how to use them. Still the game should be more clear as to their primary use. Just having more hp isnt really a good reason to use a belt, but stopping side input and being able to put routers next to them safely is beyond worth the extra cost
They are often outclassed by junstions tho. But yeah, they still are quite usefull.
holy shit this is going to change my playstyle so much, thanks lmao
You didn't even touch on the MOST addictive part... logic processors. Once you break open the can of worms that is unit mining, ANY map becomes OP.
I like how much the launch pad mechanics is hyped up in this video by the end, but omitting the fact that it's actually removed entirely for the ORANGE planet is what had me cackling.
Fixing the bridge issue? Junction. Fixing a router issue? Junction. Fixing a junction issue?
HAIL THE POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY JUNCTION
Do NOT waste thorium on fancy armored conveyer belts, grow up you don't need it, your RTG generators do
How dare you believe in a false prophet, router is clearly superior! /j
Router
133 actually has a lot of sand, it’s just you know, under the enemy base. Once you capture the sector though it’s actually one of the best early game hub sectors
Few times have I been so solidly sold on a game as this! I chuckled, I winced, I basked in the glory of that spaghet... I want this! Damn and bless you equally for infecting me with this game
I really appreciate when CZcamsrs who have good humor and are relatable cover small games like this one. It really makes me smile seeing someone else begin enjoying a game I take great interest in as well. You earned a like and a sub from me!
Thanks for viewing and commenting my dude. The kind words help me to survive the algorithm.
For another shit-show of a video, go check out his video on Impossible Creatures.

Finally another person who is showcasing mindustry. Thank you for show more people to this hidden gem.
explaining Mindustry defences in one sentence:
"Overkill does not exist."
Fun fact. Mindustry is also completely open source which means you can do anything you want to the game images which are distributed under open source license so it’s completely free.
You know you buy too many games when you look at a game and think it looks cools, only to look in Steam and realize you already bought it (probably during a Steam sale).
It has been brought to my attention that this video did not upload in 480p or 240P resolutions. Quite distraught I reached out to some other youtubers and apparently this issue has been plaguing small channels since early December 2022. I can confirm that it is not an issue I can fix since it appears CZcams is bugged or field testing something. If you can watch it at 720p60fps I highly recommend it, since 360p butchers it with compression. Cheers.
[Edit: As of December 2022 it appears that CZcams only processes the 480p and 240p resolutions once the video hits a certain number of views.]
anybody interested in joining a pvp clan, we can help you learn the game faster, besides pvp is more fun than you think. campaign is a child's toy by comparison.
You have now reached the threshhold then.
Dude. Your style is laser-focused on my funny bone. Love it
Thank you my good sir.
You have less than 1000 subs!? The editing, script writing, and overall structuring of your videos honestly had me convinced that you would have at the very least half a million subscribers. Keep up the fantastic work and I'm sure you'll gain the recognition you deserve.
Legend has it he's still mass producing tier 5 units to colonized the whole planet
my mom always told me to not accept candy from strangers, sadly i forgot that when i give mindustry a try, and oh boy it wasn't just a normal candie, it was especial (in a good way).
Please make more Mindustry content to satisfy my hopeless addiction. I subscribed.
Unfortunately, this is more of a review channel, so unless there is a major update or change in the game, it is unlikely that there will be more Mindustry content.
But there will be other stuff, so stick around.
As someone who's 100% Mindustry pre-new world update, I thank you for bringing the game some attention
Mindustry veteran here, nice work you have just cured me of my half a year burn out, thanks
back in my day mindustry was still a game jam
"alright grandpa let's get you to bed"
/j
i dont care how few videos this guy has. i love them and i want more mindustry
As a mindustry noob I can confirm this was my reaction
CZcams seems to have chosen for me to see this, all these months later. Nice to see more people covering Mindustry!
Very good explanation for a very good game. As someone with a thousand hours, 25+ Serpulo campaign runs, 4 Erekir campaign runs, several challenge runs, and general competence at PvP and schematic design, I applaud. Good job!
Stop being good at the game
@@sweeternickel70skill isue
@@Stefanredd I agree
Ohhh god the router chainers eughhhhh
@@sweeternickel70 real (i do apologize for bragging though, t'was stupid)
I clicked on the video because it seemed neat, but seeing a skeleton immediately and realizing it was Hapless was like a MiB neuralyzer. I genuinely felt flashbanged for a second.
That said, it's good to see you still creating. From quality Kenshi mods, to quality CZcams videos. You continue to amaze. Hope to see more!
I already posses this addiction
8:09 is that an atlantis reference I see!!
Its the not playing for months then randomly getting the urge to play into the midnight hours for me. Addiction is real.
That "Capital Sector" idea of yours is genius.
Some tips for surviving more often:
- have water turrets near anything flammable. This includes pyratite/blast production, big coal mines, shenanigans with liquid slag and your frontlines
- water is also very useful for boosting mines; a blast drill with water can run at ~10 items/s, and you can get that amount up to 25 items/s with overdrive (compare to 0.5 from the basic drill)
- have at least two tiles of plastanium walls in your defenses. The laser enemies will otherwise tear through your defenses
- the status effects applied on enemies can be very strong (liquid slag gives fire, oil gives tarred which increases fire damage, cryofluid makes enemies slower and more vulnerable to blast damage, etc.)
- higher tiered turrets are, unsurprisingly, much more ammo efficient
- if you have the brainpower for it, then logic processors can allow for some overpowered designs, like Foreshadows that automatically choose to ignore weaker targets based on how much surge alloy is in storage. There are blueprints from other people that have this figured out already for you, too
From my experience, oil (tarred) don't really increase fire damage. Tarred is quite complicated. If you burn a tarred units it barely do any effect. If you apply tarred on a burning units, it will extent burning duration, turn melting to burning, do small damage, but tarred effect won't stay. It will deal damage and extend fire duration every time you try to apply tarred. This actually oil tsunami to kill a burning T5 pretty dang quick since tsunami hit 40 times/sec.
So it's kinda the reverse compare to realife. In realife you put the tar on your enemy first, then burn them. In Mindustry you put enemy on fire first then tar.
I don't really recommend this combo since it can also set your base on fire.
this is one of my favorite mindustry videos, it is the exact way i see mindustry and you tell everyone how it is.
THX for the vid!1!
Best mindustry explanation ever
This game actually has some interesting lore, that could be able to fuel a pretty good movie about this game...
Nice to see the game the recognition it deserves.
As a mindustry veteran I can say that silicon is the most important resource in the hame
Siligone.
@@connorirons4542 indeed
Definitely the video which got me back intot he game after 2yrs. I'll never forget the days I used to play with my 2 freinds before they unfortunately dies due to covid in 2022❤ This game sent me so much memories and this video got me back onto the game again. Thanks for this wonderful video 😊
something about a skeleton talking about factorio cr-ck just... perfect
8:04 that bridge conveyor in the line of that conduit caused me physical pain
Not gonna lie, this video is too satisfying to watch
Factorio lore: ball land in more bigger ball
Mindustry lore: (alot more)(like alot)
All mindustry vets know: this video is 100% accurate
after watching this mans video i can safely say it made my brain incredibly smooth very recommend and also underrated youtuber and needs more attention
I have no idea how I found this, but I'm glad I did.
Great video!
No gigapede! That's lodged in my nightmares now. They don't care where your item comes from or where it's going. Thanks got me rolling don't know why that's so funny!
Fun fact. I know mindustry before factorio and yet i played factorio more, soo yes Mindustry is the catcher and factorio is the real drug.
Btw there is a mod on mindustry to put factorio textures on the game, but idk if It has been uptdated to recente versions, i leave playing mindustry in 2 years beacuse i started playing favtorio
Everyone's gangsta until the big spooder shows up.
I am pro mindustry player so here is some tips: If you somehow make a contraption that works; always make it a schematic for you to build it again without trying to remember it, You need to, also make a narrow gap on your wall where enemies get tricked to go into so they will not find a different way to go in your base and for you to concentrate you turrets in that are(Note this only is applicable on places that have a large enough area to fit a gap). You need to replace you copper and lead mines with monos(the mining drone) cause it gives you more space to build more better factories and more unit factories.
I use narrow gap trick with fuse and it works perfectly against ground unit
In case of air unit just use that laser unit with it
I take notes on everything that works in order to remember it along with schematics because schematics alone often get too complicated without an explanation
Same here, it’s lovely till I get hit by a artillery shell by accident
Final tip: NEVER, EVER, EVER use laser drills the moment you can get airblasts to mine thorium. (The most infuriating thing I saw in the video is "laser drills mining sand"...) By the way, if you see the weird changing-speed conveyors, it's an overdrive projector/dome (basically more overkill on turrets and machines, overdrive dome boosts speed by 2.5x and even ramps power production)
@@notachannel3903 Only reason to use laser drills is to get thorium
Very nice and dynamic editing. Very pleasing to watch. Cheers and GREAT work!
This channel is incredibly underated
Fun fact: you can create items out of your ass using launchpads - choose a sector where there is noting you need, send in bunch off stuff you want to dupe, load them into vaults, then release all of them at once into as many launchpads as that sector can power. After a first few launches, exit the sector, check the info from planet view. If it's displaying solid amount of resources being exported, good. DON'T GO BACK IN! The game will think that in this unloaded sector there must be a decent factory for all of the exports, even though it was just some resources sent all at once. This method can provide 1 sector of your choosing with quite a lot of resources.
excellent intro to my favorite game of all time! You're exactly right about it being easily approachable but highly addicting. I've taken a break but I used to make videos for it as well, not as good as your's, but I sympathize with lacking the time and resources to work on youtube.
Such an amazing video, definitely worth the sub. Keep pushing out the great content man, you're doing really well!
That was a nice vidéo. I’m surprised your channel isn’t a bit bigger. And good luck with the power outages
love these videos, can’t wait to see what else is in store
Not to mention how easy modding the game is as well as how easy it is to access and download mods. Also very easy for mod developers since the game is entirely open sourced, and we don't even have to deal with the Steam Workshop.
Nice seeing someone play mindustry in South Africa I thought I was the only one.
Finally, a good representation of mindustry other than just "more pixelated factorio with rts"
Oh my god you don't understand how much I've suffered at the hands of this game
The router chains are killing me
I remember back when I found Mindustry, back on good ol mobile version (Now Classic version) back when there were only towers, stone instead of copper, 1x1 block crafting stations, and a small asf tech chain. I actully found this game before factorio, and fell in love with it, been a supporter of the series ever since, and I always download a copy of the game onto evrey computer and phone I get.
Mindustry got me through a lot of night shifts working security. Side note it's available on android and I've played it on my phone since probably 2019 or 2020.
Great work man, I really like your commentary. Keep up the good work.
oh boy a video about a game I have never heard of? thanks youtube! great video btw!
I played mindustry before the planet view was even a thing.
It was very fun but kinda got bored when I realized I can just wall off the spawn zone, put defenses there and the entire map is basically free to do whatever I want.
As for air units just build the anti air here and there.
EDIT: the game (covered in the video) after these massive updates is just so much more fun to play endlessly.
Mindustry has been a good game since it was a pixelart mobile game that ran on the iPod touch. Will never stop being good.
YEP, YOU HAVE EARNED A SUB
THE EDITING, THE SCRIPT, AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD
"start on the purple planet first"
Me: no
Great video man! I Subbed once I found your DRG video, keep pumping great stuff 👍
I saw kenshi skeleton and immediately subscribed
I feel you. No power, no fun. Was fun to watch 😂😂
Came across this video too late. Already half a dozen missions into the orange planet. I'm gonna cry soon if everything remains true in this video XD.
Addiction is just a sign you made a good game when you talk about the factorio style game
Really cool video on a game I love to bits
Gonna use this to hopefully make my friends pick this game up
Thanks for the summary. Seems like a cool game! You should definitely keep making these. Let us help you get a generator!
I just got back into this game and this video is feeding my addiction even more😢
Have fun champ!
Lol bro trying tarfield first time 😂😂
He didn't see the mega launch pad yet
I'm addicted to playing Modded Mindustry, and have a lot of progress on Erekir.
There's no fire on Erekir.
been playing mindustry for so, so long, the game has changed a ton over time
the best part is that it is fully playable and comfortable in mobile
DoshDoshington MENTIONED!
as someone who plays mindustry, im widely addicted to it
I wish you many many more subs. Your edits are goddamned hilarious, lmao.
I love see south african youtubers it just hits home for some reason
3:20 router chain detected, lethal force authorized
Very well written and presented!
Loved the video. I almost never comment, but for such a small creator, this video was top-notch!
Thanks for the kind word, it really means alot
I just love that you have the Mechanicus mod in for Factorio. It´s the best mod of them all!
Fun fact, he had some involvement in the making of that model.
Been playing since v4 absolutely love it to death and cannot believe what it is now
You should make sure your core is full(including coal) until you discover launch pads
And you should use junctions until you discover plated conveyors which don't accept from sides
Sadly you are stuck with routers until you find green belts
And schematics are like cheat codes but you still pay for the resources but minus the time you spend while building it
For the clogging you can just pick up the items from the conveyors unless you use complex schematics that you don't know how it works. It's almost impossible to separate contaminated fluids.
never played factorio, but mindustry is fr like one of my favorite games ever.
Came here for a review and got a very entertaining one. Subscribed!
I beg for you to make more videos like this. You did a fantastic job on this one and I wait for more. Maybe do one on factorio or something? I dunno what but I want you to either make a similar video to this, or make more videos in general. Even just start a series of playing through Mindustry, I would watch. I BEG FOR MORE
I've never used schematics/blueprints and I often beat the timers the game has. For newcomers I'd say this game is more about trial and error before it becomes more about efficiency.
This man needs more subs
sea of thieves music in the background is so fire
Great video on an underrated game man! Waiting for more content :)
Outstanding video🎉
damn you convinced me, i bought this game now for a whopping 0 dollars
