I've been watching a bunch of videos for "affordable" office makeovers that have a premium, minimalist aesthetic. Most, if not all, end up still being a pretty penny and/or too complex. I stumbled across your video and LOVE the aesthetic you have going on here! I don't often comment on YT videos, but I noticed you just started up. I just wanted to say keep it up! I thought I was surely watching a highly subscribed channel with the quality of build, videography, and sound. The best part is it's realistic and genuine. You've gained a subscriber 👍🏻

Honestly, when I was initially planning all of this, I had aspirations of creating something like the other office makeover/desk setup videos on CZcams. But it didn't take long for me to realize it was not going to be in my budget, especially since I have an 11 month baby at home that I'd rather spend my money on. So my plans shifted more towards the DIY route to save money, while also, like you said, get that "premium, minimalistic aesthetic". I don't have a lot of experience with building things so I wanted to keep it simple, and I'm glad that this approach resonates with other people who are in a similar situation. I'd love to see how your updated setup turns out! Cheers :)

Looks really nice. I'm sure you went over this after the recording however a few things I'd like to point out. The 24 pin connector didn't look like it was in all the way. The power (kettle) lead again didn't look like it was in all the way. Loose cables and connections could result in a fire.
Hey Affieuk, I was hoping no one would notice that! You're right, I did seat them correctly in the end, it's just that I carelessly used the shots where I didn't push them in all the way. Appreciate you pointing it out, it is definitely a hazard to not secure them properly.

Beautiful - I was hoping you would paint the whit wall into a darc charcoal great. It would mesh well. I'm in the process of doing up my office - similar size to yous. Thank you for the inspiration.

You're right, a dark colour on the white walls like charcoal would have looked amazing,, but the issue is that I'm currently renting my place and not sure how much longer I'm going to be here. White or off white is only permitted and you have to repaint any other colours. Figured I'd live with the white even though it's not ideal. The wood slats are installed on a matte black vinyl that I can remove.
Oh man, you pretty much nailed what I had in mind for my own setup. In my case I would also put my CPU case under the table with stripes or tied to the table legs on the outside (smaller case). You really made it much warmer... Maybe a little too much? I would put some green to balance it out. Anyway, really well done! 👍

Hey, thanks for stopping by! The Dell monitors are 6 years old now. They're 4K and have great colour accuracy which is great to use to edit photos. But you're right, a nicer looking monitor would make the setup better which is why I'm currently saving up for an ultrawide.
The lighting shot looked awesome! I'll have to go look at the LED strip. How has the adhesive held up? Mine always seems to fall off after a couple days.
what a regarded build, you use led strip without tunnels, to make them light the wall properly you have to keep some space between table and wall, which leads you to table wobbling, which you of course will not show in the video.
Sir, while my investment strategies might be regarded, I assure you I did my research before I did all of this work on my office. The LEDs provide adequate lighting on its own and my desk is about 6 inches from the back wall to allow for the light to spread. I'll admit, when I max out the height of the standing desk, there is a bit of wobble, but the majority of budget standing desk bases do have the same problem. I'll discuss it in my next video. Sweet video and cool setup! Especially the cable management is great. But if you don't mind some constructive criticism, I highly recommend color grading your videos. Especially the shows where you show off your setup; it would really take it to the next level. On another note, previously you had one monitor in the middle, and one to the side, with the second facing towards you. Now you have both in the middle, which means that you're staring at the bezel in the middle. Wasn't it better before?

In regards to colour correction, I tried my best to colour grade but it proved to be a bit difficult since I recorded the footage on my Pixel 6 Pro and Nikon D750. I'm going to go back and try and improve for my next video. Do you have any CZcamsrs that you can recommend for grading tutorials involving less than ideal footage quality? I'm using this setup to record as a proof of concept for my videos before I invest in better gear. As for the placement of my monitors, I placed them side-by-side for aesthetic reasons for the video but a lot of people have commented on what a terrible setup it is 😅. I'm going to show my day-to-day setup in my next video which is using my right monitor as my primary and sit directly in front of it, and having the left monitor angled for a better view. Man how can you stand that thick double edge from both monitors in the middle of your vision ? It would be a no go for me. Unless you sit to the side, but seeing how the keyboard and mouse are centered, i don't think you do.The rest of the setup is great, apart from the monitor positioning. Well at least in my opinion.
Hey Mark. Thanks for dropping by. I don't use the monitors the way I have it set up in the video. In the intro, I showed my old setup where I have one primary that's centred and the secondary angled. I initially had it setup that way when I starting shooting the video for my new desk setup but it didn't look aesthetic so I made it side by side. But when I'm actually using the monitors, I sit dead centre to the right monitor and angle the left one. I just move the keyboard and mouse over. My goal is to eventually upgrade to a ultra-wide because, yeah, I hate the double thick edges as well LOL. The monitors' display is great but the bezel is massive. Do you have any suggestions for a great monitor?

Hi Tricia, I knew someone would eventually ask this 😭. Don't laugh but when I was moving into my condo I saw my building manager throwing out their old office chairs and I took the best one for myself. It was supposed to be a temporary thing while I looked for a new chair but now I've had it for two years. It's green fabric upholstery and would have stuck out like a sore thumb in my new office setup so I didn't include it. With that being said, I've been looking getting the IKEA ALEFJÄLL chair to replace it, which I should have in my next video.

I'm sitting drawing the plan and walls in figma... In two weeks I couldn't make a decision on what wood to order the table top from. Ikea is not deep enough, only 63 cm.
@@stepahinigor where are you located? I'm in Canada and we have a couple of big box hardware/lumber stores like Home Depot and Lowe's that have wood countertops in different sizes. If you want to go the countertop route for your desktop, you can check them out or a similar store if you don't have them where you're at.

Yessir. I'm planning on adding a little green, black, and gold accent colours to the mix to compliment all of the wood.
I'm not sure you would like it, but you can get cheap cable extensions, in black-brown or white-brown color for your pc, would look pretty good!
