Hey sgtnuggets, thanks for stopping by! It looks like the one I used takes in 4k input but outputs only in 1080p. There are capture cards that do 4k30fps, which will be okay for a 4k Firestick. Alternatively, you have the option to get a 4k HDMI splitter and run one output to the capture card and the other output straight to your TV.

Hey Tom, thanks for stopping by! I took an IKEA desk lamp, spray painted it black and gold, and used a C-clamp to secure it onto the monitor stand post.

@bhimmeup if I could I would build everything I need, the feeling of a job well done is unmatched. I still have to stain it and do a few touchups. (Actually not sure if to stain it or paint it)

@@Adrian_John_ I chose to stain to match my desktop but painting it will definitely allow for better contrast with the desk. Hope it turns out great either way!

Hey amb1739, thanks for the feedback. My goal was to use this setup as a base and add or remove features over time. Adding some more contrast is a great idea.

The contrast is between the walnut veneer of the desk top and the black desk pad. I like the walnut desk top. A black desk top would be too plain.

Hi Tricia, I knew someone would eventually ask this 😭. Don't laugh but when I was moving into my condo I saw my building manager throwing out their old office chairs and I took the best one for myself. It was supposed to be a temporary thing while I looked for a new chair but now I've had it for two years. It's green fabric upholstery and would have stuck out like a sore thumb in my new office setup so I didn't include it. With that being said, I've been looking getting the IKEA ALEFJÄLL chair to replace it, which I should have in my next video.

Hey Affieuk, I was hoping no one would notice that! You're right, I did seat them correctly in the end, it's just that I carelessly used the shots where I didn't push them in all the way. Appreciate you pointing it out, it is definitely a hazard to not secure them properly.

Hey Ivan, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! And I truly appreciate the CC; it's why I think CZcams is an amazing platform to learn from each other. I agree with you on both points. In regards to colour correction, I tried my best to colour grade but it proved to be a bit difficult since I recorded the footage on my Pixel 6 Pro and Nikon D750. I'm going to go back and try and improve for my next video. Do you have any CZcamsrs that you can recommend for grading tutorials involving less than ideal footage quality? I'm using this setup to record as a proof of concept for my videos before I invest in better gear. As for the placement of my monitors, I placed them side-by-side for aesthetic reasons for the video but a lot of people have commented on what a terrible setup it is 😅. I'm going to show my day-to-day setup in my next video which is using my right monitor as my primary and sit directly in front of it, and having the left monitor angled for a better view. Thanks again for dropping by and I appreciate the CC! My goal is to improve on every video and your comment was very helpful to see what I need to focus on.

Hey Zane. I placed it side by side when I shot the video for the sake of symmetry. But normally when I'm using my PC, I sit facing the right monitor and turn the left one at a 45 degree angle.

Honestly, when I was initially planning all of this, I had aspirations of creating something like the other office makeover/desk setup videos on CZcams. But it didn't take long for me to realize it was not going to be in my budget, especially since I have an 11 month baby at home that I'd rather spend my money on. So my plans shifted more towards the DIY route to save money, while also, like you said, get that "premium, minimalistic aesthetic". I don't have a lot of experience with building things so I wanted to keep it simple, and I'm glad that this approach resonates with other people who are in a similar situation. I'd love to see how your updated setup turns out! Cheers :)

Yessir. I'm planning on adding a little green, black, and gold accent colours to the mix to compliment all of the wood.

Hey, thanks for stopping by! The Dell monitors are 6 years old now. They're 4K and have great colour accuracy which is great to use to edit photos. But you're right, a nicer looking monitor would make the setup better which is why I'm currently saving up for an ultrawide.

Thanks Trypyyyy. You're right, a dark colour on the white walls like charcoal would have looked amazing,, but the issue is that I'm currently renting my place and not sure how much longer I'm going to be here. White or off white is only permitted and you have to repaint any other colours. Figured I'd live with the white even though it's not ideal. The wood slats are installed on a matte black vinyl that I can remove.

I'm sitting drawing the plan and walls in figma... In two weeks I couldn't make a decision on what wood to order the table top from. Ikea is not deep enough, only 63 cm.

​@@stepahinigor​​ where are you located? I'm in Canada and we have a couple of big box hardware/lumber stores like Home Depot and Lowe's that have wood countertops in different sizes. If you want to go the countertop route for your desktop, you can check them out or a similar store if you don't have them where you're at.
