  • With Lewis Hamilton kicking off 2025's Silly Season early with his shock Ferrari move announced in February to replace Carlos Sainz, “silly season” started early. With several drivers out of contract at the end of this year, there is plenty of intrigue about what 2025 could look like.
Bryn Lucas is joined by Alex Kalinauckas as they discuss the current options for the teams and drivers for 2025.

I mean huge respect to checo for dealing all the stress comes with that 2nd RB seat,
i mean look at these people still down playing checo even when he is doing well.

I want to see hulkenberg in a competitive car!!

I don’t get this Ricciardo was showing better in Shanghai narrative. No he didn’t. Tsunoda having a bad weekend doesn’t mean Ricciardo has had a good one. Tsunoda went from making Q3 3 times in a row to qualifying 19th. Ricciardo went from qualifying 14th, 14th, 18th, 11th to qualifying 12th. That’s not an improvement.
In the race he dropped back at the start and was mired in the midfield with Tsunoda right behind him in the opening stint. Their strategies diverged with Ricciardo going long on his mediums. The only time he was in the top 10 was when drivers behind him had already stopped, beating Hulkenberg to the final point would have required a lot of overtaking. Again this is not an improvement.
An improvement for Ricciardo is making Q3 and getting points in the race. Not hoping Tsunoda has an awful weekend.
Hell all the drivers who had never been to Shanghai had a bad weekend relative to their teammates, Piastri, Tsunoda, Sargeant & Zhou. Little wonder why when we found the track surface was offering different levels of grip and they all had one practice session to learn the track and get up to speed. They were all at a disadvantage and outperformed by some margin by their more experienced teammates.

    My best guess:
Red Bull, McLaren, Aston will be the same as this year. Ferrari we know. Sainz and Hulkenburg will go to what will be Audi, because there isn’t a better team for Sainz to go to for more than a year. RB will take Tsunoda and Lawson, unless Ricciardo starts to outperform Yuki every week. Gasly and Ocon will stay stuck at Alpine. Haas will have KMag and Bearman. Williams will have Albon and Antonelli, assuming he does well enough in F2 for a super license. That just leaves Russell and someone at Mercedes. Who that would be, I’m not sure. Sainz wouldn’t go there for one year I expect, not would most serious drivers unless they knew where they were going the year after. So maybe someone that would have a deal in place to replace Antonelli at Williams in 2026? Perhaps Bottas back to Mercedes for a year, then Williams in 2026? Or straight off for 2025 if Merc rate Antonelli that highly. In that case another rookie might go to Williams next year instead, depending what they want. At any rate I look forward to coming back to this comment when it’s settled and seeing how wrong I got it 😂

Not wrong at all. Sounds just as likely as anything the “knowledgeable” pundits had to say. 😂

Hot take. Ocon is better than russell.

I could see haas picking up Perez if he’s dropped from RB. They’ll get a race winner with proven track record of delivering in midfield/back marker machinery plus they’ll have a solid fan base for all 3 US races

It's shocking how much doubt and sh*t checo gets. He's second behind his teammate and was last year as well, he's a team player and get along with everyone. What else does he has to do to be good in the eyes of the journos? Beat verstapen? Even Hamilton couldn't

@FunkyMonk6 he wasn't in position for a Pole time, there were 2 ferrari's already ranked higher. It is true Max and Sainz also I believe were behind him on a fast lap, ultimate result was P1 & 2 Ferrari Leclerc & Sainz, P3 & 4 RB11 & RB1. As to the crash, the first suggestions of deliberacy came from Dutch circles, Telegraaf newspaper + Coronel (a pundit) and both are well tied to Jos Verstappen. There is telemetry footage but despite that it was never 100% conclusive as deliberate rather than a weird slip up. There has never been an official investigation either, afterwards

I'm never shocked by the lengths the UK media go to NOT criticise Toto. Horner is annoyd because the suggestions Max will leave are idiotic.
How about you put some criticism on Toto because as Horner says, he has much bigger issues than his drivers

What a stupid comment Red Bull aren't a charity of course RB aren't going to pay top dollar they have the best car and no shortage of people who will drive for less then they can get elsewhere. It's just business sense. Just report the facts instead of dream of shite for a headline.

It's very hard to listen to a podcast with a stutterer. As hard as I try to ignore it, it just drives the listener insane. I got 9 min into this vid. I wanted to watch it all, but this is as much as I can take of that. Pls find a solution.
