I know a lot of people are complaining about the inaccuracies due to the actors aging, but come on it’s been 8 years. I’d be lucky to look that good after that. Cut them some slack
It’s not too bad. I only wish they would’ve replicated the scars and beard length accurately. He looks like bearded Paul McCartney from the Coming Up music video in El Camino
A little fun fact: Jesse was originally supposed to show no emotion when he drove away it was just supposed to be a closeup of him with a blank expression but it was Aaron who started to laugh hysterically and scream (because that seemed like a natural reaction of being freed after being held as a slave for)
Really goes to show just how much of a perfect storm the entire show was. Slightly different decisions could've made the entire sow far more generic and mediocre, but things went exactly the right way and created an honest to god masterpiece.
@@zoxyy.1x for me it was a big question at the series end. Jessie flying down a road that we see police cars coming in just moments after. A lot people theorized that either 1) he passed before ether showed up or 2) one car apprehended him.
Another fun fact was that Vince Gilligan kidnapped Aaron Paul from his home and had him there for 6 years. Those screams of joy were real and Gilligan liked it so much he kept it in.
To be fair, with how the scheduling works for Breaking Bad and TV in general, Aaron Paul probably didn't have enough time to grow out a beard over several months due to the release schedule whereas El Camino is a standalone movie so everything would've been planned out well in advance Besides, it's more accurate to what a beard would actually look like if someone was held in captivity for half a year (in fact, growing out a beard for 6 months would look a lot longer than it did in El Camino). Jesse in Felina looks like someone who hasn't shaved in about 6 weeks, not months
I never realized how badly he was tortured during his captivity with the Nazis until El Camino came out. I just thought they just beat him up and kept him chained.
Either he was yelling loud enough to somehow make that beard grow or he was on the road for a LONG ass minute since the end of BB or maybe even both lol

@@paulinezugzwang1773 Definitely. Yeah he was unclean, but Jack's gang had a tortured way of looking after him. Remember they would hose him down every now and then, and don't forget Todd's twisted relationship towards him.
@@prestonrutherford873 yeah exactly, that's why I wasn't sure Todd would let him brush his teeth like you said, since they wouldn't even let him shower properly and had him shitting in a bucket, his teeth were probably the least of their concern.
@@paulinezugzwang1773 Well no that's exactly why they would let him brush his teeth, Jack and company don't care about him - Todd does, in his own twisted and creepy way.
This scene is so perfect for many reasons. First of all, I feel like Aaron Paul hits the nail on the head with the wild howls and yells. It's perfect. He's been tortured and turned into a slave for about a year. Second of all, after seeing the gunshot wound, he knew he was finally free of Walt, the man who ruined his life. And I have to imagine that those celebratory- yet pained yells are affected by Walter's unavoidable death.
This cut is awesome. Rewatching this reminds me of Walt dying in the lab and somehow I’ve never thought of the symbolism. Walt dies in the lab that Jesse has spent so long cooking in against his will, the same lab that Walt is ultimately responsibly for him spending all his time after letting the Nazis take Jesse instead of killing him in the desert. (They gave Walt a choice and Jesse looked remorseful as he kneeled and Jack aimed his pistol at his head) Now you could argue that the only other option was worse for Jesse, but he was hidden until Walt alerted them that he was under his car. Walt never got to experience the horrors of the lab like Jesse, but instead he spent his last moments there, alone. “Guess I got what I deserved” Edit: Thanks for the highlight!
When I watched Jesse drive off into the night, my first thought was, “I really hope he got to Alaska. Thank god El Camino came out to confirm that he did.
