I would beg to differ. One should ideally dress in a way so as to not offend the sensibilities of those around him. These torn, faded and ill-fitting clothes with a load of ill-suited jewelry or accessories will put one off and should be avoided on all occasions especially on those when one has to have an interaction with another. As for me I would any day prefer to wear a decent set of clean well fitting clothes.

Much here to agree with, but a couple points I take issue with. First is workwear - utilitarian garb when out hiking, doing work on the ranch, or out in the woods, is a must. It's functional and durable, qualities that win out under those circumstances. The second is the vest -- puffer vests are great during transitional weather, and also when out hiking or on expeditions, where you need some body warmth, but where exertion rules out a full coat.

I'd get it if she were talking about guys walking around in legitimate Biker/Motorcycle Jackets whose thickness are meant more for function than form/fashion.
I'd definitely get it if she was talking about the Brando/WIld Ones-style Moto Jacket because it's a specific style that very few can pull off.
But her hatred for the Cafe Racer has never made sense to me, and she never explains it - she just dismisses it as an option and then moves on (surprisingly not this time to spending 5 minutes gushing over Leather Bomber Jackets).

    • @NemoTheGlover
      @NemoTheGlover Před rokem +10

yea I have watched a few of her videos and by far that's one thing I can't get behind lol. It's the most simple leather jacket that can be dressed down or up, and most men can pull off compared to let's say.. a rough biker jacket, it is very versatile and gives you more options than let's say a brown suede bomber jacket.
I love wearing my lambskin black leather jacket with a nice white oxford, a tie, some black denims & black chelsea boots, just like I like just slapping it on a black casual fit to go to the store. A bit juvenile but as a 24 year old dude I think it switches things up sometimes, since typically people see me in chinos, polos, oil jackets & windbreakers.... so I always get compliments from people that see my everyday uniforms.
I think her videos are just aimed towards the older crowd, and she really believes men older than like 35 shouldn't be using leather jackets, seems to be more of a biased preference of hers, which when one thinks about it-> it makes sense.. generally speaking most men with dad bods in their 40s don't look great with leather jackets anymore, so she just generalizes her advice of the jacket & hands it out to all of us equally, rather than advising that they can look great depending on your body type, and that they can look great on slim mid age men and younger men or whatever she really feels.

At the other end of the spectrum, someone dressed in their best attire from the 1920s would not be considered stylish in 2023 (and that becomes more true the further back you go). The best we can all do is decide whose opinions we care about, and dress for those people. And if you insist that you only care about your own opinion, then you just validated everybody's individual style preferences...

    1. If you know how to cut your own hair, why not? Go for it.
    2. I wear white socks and slides to the gym before switching to my Olumpic weightlifting shoes. And I tuck my compression tights, which keeps the family jewels in their place, in them.
    3. Yeah, I don't like Apple watches either.
    4. The whole thing about wearing tights under a sleeveless vest is weird to me, too, unless the tights are soem sort of thermal wear I've seen my hunter friends use.
    5. It's not like I have an issue with work wear, I have an issue with people who don't work in work wear.
    6. I bet you wouldn't dare tell Harry Styles he's unstylish for wearing flared pants.
    7. I can agree that flip flops should only be worn in the gym shower and near a body of water.
    8. I like my graphic tees, but it should fit properly, unlike the elongated tees you mentioned.
    9. The right Cafe racer leather jacket is dope.
    10. Jorts are weird, and the only distressing I like on jeans is natural distressing. And I don't mean DIY "natural" distressing.

A men's sleeveless vest needs to be slim, fitting body/torso like a snug glove and puffs/pads must not be overly puffy/thick, and then it will look good. Try vest with thin puffs and try to size down because there are no sleeves and shoulders to worry about - just body. As long as you can zip vest over a shirt comfortably snug to breathe you are OK. Don't listen to everything this woman says, she just presents her own opinions. Some of them make sense and some of them can be safely ignored. Fit is everything for anything you may wear.

I hope people doesn’t take this personally. Seriously wear what you like and not what other tells you to wear. One day we will all wear the same because women “like” that, but in the end the unique style is always complimented. At least that’s what I experience. I like wearing carhartt, always has, and nobody is going to change that.

Yes, work clothes are practical with simple lines and last a long time. I wore a denim jacket for at least ten years and it barely showed any wear.
I wear work boots most of the time. They look better than tennis shoes, generally.
An Eisenhower jacket is an understated piece of style that has been with us for decades.

Cafe Racer jackets are cool if you own a motorcycle no doubt. If you don't and wear it on a bus or even in your own car it doesn't look good because it doesn't serve its purpose. Like wearing a welder mask without welding something. Timberland boots are good for work and casual shoes for going to the store; it looks good with that. But you can't pair it with any of Ashley's dresser options for men. Her style caters to a more classy look.

Her "advice" isn't really suited for my generation (I'm gen z, born in 2000). In my experience, we like an outfit that's interest, that draws the eye. Also, some of the advice you can change, like wearing the bigger/longer tee, you can do some type of tuck to show off your proportions better. Honestly, she needs to stop saying the "all women hate this trend" because it's not all women who hate these trends.
