If anyone's wondering why most Japanese are so weird about tattoos, it's because tattoos have been historically associated with criminal gangs like the yakuza. They're not illegal in modern Japan, but they're still frowned upon and seen as inappropriate. It's kind of like how manji symbols (swastikas) shown in anime usually end up censored in the West because of the association with Nazism.

The manga is full of details that were skipped or cut in the anime. For example it's specified that Zeke and Pieck weren't sent to Paradis because Marley needed at least 2 titans to defend them from enemy nations. I suggest both anime onlies and people that only read the final chapters of the manga after a specific season of the anime, to start the manga all over from chapter 1 and find all the differences, because there are more than you would think, especially in the first seasons. In chapter 1 itself already there's a "dream" of Eren seeing Mikasa in front of him saying "see you later, Eren" that was unexplainably cut from episode one
Yes and when he wakes up and sees Mikasa he even asked when she grew her hair long.

If there’s one thing That I’m happy with that mappa is doing better is story adapting and pacing , wits directors cut out so much from mikasas character, she still a simp for Eren but she is like 10x more of simp in the anime than in the manga , and the amount of arguments they cut from each character was done dirty,Levi forcing historia to become queen would add so much to her character
I started reading the manga and found this helped me understand the scene in season 4!!!! Anyways ya thanks for watching.

The most affecting one was the directing of the scene when grisha leaves his house to go on his business trip. Wit didn't show grisha looking away when telling eren about the basement but instead only showed the key in slow mo... Later in s4, mappa had to fix that with quick cuts to show the viewers that grisha was indeed looking at adult eren when telling young eren about the basement... I think mappa did a good job trying to fix it but it could have been more jaw dropping if wit hadn't messed it up in the first place, it looks a bit weird with those fast paced cuts that had to be done to show the audience that whole scenario. And now the most story affecting cut wit did was removing mikasa's "see you later eren" in the very first scene of the show.. It holds such a big importance in the ending of the show but wit had to fuck it up once again by removing all of mikasa's important dialogues

the "See You Later" Eren prolly won't end up in the anime given that the anime might go in a different direction than the manga. it's not 100% confirmed but there are theories, and pretty strong ones. like Muv Luv and the sound director spilling the beans.
Wit has made a lot of continuity errors throughout their run time, especially when it comes to the grisha telling eren about the basement scene and another scene that holds significance for the ending.

they didn't add the ''see you later, eren,'' but they might have did it to avoid spoilers which might be the reason why they showed us the weird dream that eren had instead of Mikasa telling eren ''see you later''

There's plenty of other anime shows that have characters with tattoos. The children aspect of it is important to acknowledge as well.
But yes, we've certainly seen much worse in this.
Lol I was about to say, they can show 15-18 year old getting their guts spilled and limbs eaten, but a child getting a tatoo is where we cross the line LOL

wit cut alot of important scenes from the manga, levi convincing historia to become the queen, historia breakdown, mikasa telling historia to punch him made no sense in the anime,, this tatoo etc but people go ape sh*t when mappa cut small things like eren using his warhammer titans to escape his cell💀💀🤣

Not only this. Erens raging titan when he fought against Annie in the last episodes of season 1 doesn't exist either. He is just in his normal titan form in the manga.

@@lanivanced8465 except mikasas headaches. And why is this tattoo thing even a problem? Neither WIT nor the author gave mikasa this symbol on her hand unless the situation demanded it. Nobody saw this scene and thought “that’s been there this whole time??” Everyone actually thought “that has never been there once”
i think most of the reason WIT cut a lot of content was because they never really planned on doing a 2nd season. no one really expected AOT to blow up so by season 2, WIT tried to stick to the original content with Isayama having more control.
This also explains why the season 2 ed reveals as much stuff as it did. With the future of the series secured thanks to the season 1 anime, Isayama got involved more and he allowed the anime to reference things that weren't revealed in the manga yet.

In the manga you can see him looking where we would later see Eren standing in the memories, whereas in the anime he’s looking at Eren in that scene
My guess is WIT didn’t know that any of this stuff would come up later and didn’t think it was too important at the time
He actually wasn't looking at kid Eren in that scene. In fact, we don't even see his face at all when he tells Eren he's going to show him the basement later. Wit was most likely told to exclude it for this very reason but weren't told why
Wit edited and even removed a lot of stuff from the manga esp in s3. Erwin looking for levi squad after rod reiss became a titan, levi physically assaulting historia, to name a few.
also Eren's dream in chapter 1 was changed, and that dream is going to be important
Studio WIT did cut out many important manga panels as they did not know the significance at the time. There are a few panels that should have been adapted as the very first scene in episode 1 that holds very important consequence for one of the upcoming newer episodes. If that panel was kept, that specific episode would be really mindblowing to the viewers, else it would just feel like a random asspull

She really wasn't handled well in general. I felt Mikasa and Armin didn't have there characters fully concluded.
Even if you’re a manga reader this still helped. I picked up the manga after season 1 released and followed it up until it’s end, but I never read the original season 1 chapters! Thanks for the info!

The mikasa subplot just served as a way to give the Island a foreign ally other than Zeke. Without the Azumabito, Paradis wouldn't have been able to progress as technologically far as they did during the timeskip.

Also everyone should read the lost girls Ova manga. In the anime Annie’s part is mostly the same but a lot of stuff we’re cut from mikasa’s side from the manga counterpart.

there are a lot of anime mistakes or omissions that affect the story but i can't stop watching because the animation is so cool
I think the biggest reason wit didn't include the bandage in mikasas design is because the manga hasn't reached the azumabito arc by the time the animation began so they didn't know it's valuable. but that's just my theory

If you notice the Aot map was just the opposite position of the real world map.
Paradise Shiganshina is based on a town or a city in Germany.

Armin isn't British, he's German like Eren. The "British" are actually dark-skinned people, like Onyankopon. There's a panel in the manga that shows his original country and it appears heavily inspired by London.
Also, you're incorrect. The AOT map is based on our real-life world map, just flipped upside down. Paradis is Madagascar and Marley is Africa. Yes, Azumabito is Asia, but Marley is more Africa, South America and Europe (predominately Africa, however). This is why the "British" are dark-skinned, because "Britain" is now in the southern hemisphere and closer to the equator, meaning that Brits are dark-skinned and Marlians (Africans) appear Caucasian.

Curious why Wit still didn't add bandages over the tattoo in the ocean scene for Season 3, since by that time the tattoo was already revealed in the manga a year prior.
My guess is that might different timelines for alternative things but I don’t know weird but there is lot of different anime and manga. I read and watched I started notice that First Eren wake up in long dreams but I don’t want to spoiling what I knew what will happen in ending but no spoiler warning
I imagine the reason why they didn’t include it was because nobody knew what the longevity of AoT would be. why make a reference to something 10 years in advance when they didn’t even know id a season 2 would happen

I mean at the time aot was just starting and it didn't have any fanbase at all so adding something controversial to the show might have lead to a political backlash but now in fourth season it has a big enough fanbase that it doesn't need to worry about small stuff like that.
I remember watching that episode and I was like “wait why does mikasa have the App Store logo on her arm”
I got so mad when that happened because i thought they just added some random thing that never happened until i read the manga

I know why WIT removed this, but it's another example of them removing important scenes. I think they messed up season 3 quite a lot with how much they didn't decide to animate.
Well they could just justify it by saying Mikasa's mom was making her practice the pattern so she can make it into a tattoo later for her future child.

The change WIT made makes sense. MAPPA could have kept the same embroidery for the scene. Its not like that tattoo has any long term purpose or comes up again later. Its literally for that one scene.

They literally showed kid Annie stomping kid Reiners face to a blood pulp, Geishas sister getting eaten by dogs, Grisha squishing kids like pancakes, Eren got punched by a soldier at 9, Mikasa got punched at 9 by a grown man, that one kid warrior got eaten by Ymir, that other warrior kid got trampled by people, another squished by a rock, they showed kid Levi looking like a corpse, and OG Ymir got shot with arrows as a child. Eren got eaten by a Titan, Armin fried like chicken all at 15 years old that’s still technically a child. A tattoo on a child is the least taboo thing. “Yeah we’ll beat the crap outta kids a show them getting brutalized but we draw the line with tattoos”
I think the distinction might be that everyone knows that most of those are horrible, but they don't want to normalize tattoos because they are more controversial and could be popularized by media, not too different from how homosexuality used to be ignored in western media, even in very violent movies. The question is what you could see the audience taking away from the show.

Wow its almost like us censor for one piece. People responsible for Americanization decided that it is better to censor some things because it is a lovely fairy tale and nice pirates. But no one has bothered to read enough material to understand that it won't be possible to censor the rest of the story in this way.

I want to read the manga too, but I got in to AoT late so I’ve just started watching the anime. I’m glad I don’t see too many gatekeepers who shit on anime-only fans here.
Many of the scene in anime got cut out and hold significant meaning in the story latter. Highly support any new fans to watch the manga to gain better understanding of AoT story
Wit was pretty good but the main titans look inconsistent at best at downright bad at worst also they cut a lot
