If Trump is convicted it is unlikely he will go to prison. He will be considered a first time offender. He could be fined and put on probation for a specified time. He can also appeal the conviction. The say the appeal would take a long time and the result would be after the election. That's what I found out researching the subject.
Unfortunately, we won't know anything for the next 7 days at the earliest, as court is in recess for the Memorial Day holidays.

Why do you think a jury would convict in the face of reasonable doubt, as Cohen failed to prove election interference, and the defense got Cohen to admit to lying and grand larceny? A more rational person could see this will likely end in a hung jury...But, let's say I'm wrong, how would it look IF a jury convicted someone with the main issue still in doubt? Something that egregiously unjust would give a boost, politically, to a man who already has a comfortable lead over the incumbent.
The extreme reaction by Merchan makes me wonder if there had been threats or intimidation from outside the court, and when Costello became openly antagonistic, Merchan treated it as part of the ongoing threat already received.

Why wasn't the question about the fact that a witness conduct has never prompted a judge to clear the courtroom instead of making the judge's decision the focus? You don't need to be a genius to know the behavior of the witness was unacceptable in the court.
