You should allow people to sing it but not record it, and get it out there Podgie. My wife and I sang it upstairs in the fellons to the crowd we were with and they hadn't heard it before! It's up there with the best mate! You need to sing it more, and let people know to hush that it's about the brave Irish soldier who on this day 1981 began his hunger strike for basic human rights! This is a great song & a lovely recording of it. This may upset a lot of people but what a waste of a life. I am English with a love of Ireland & the Irish people & particularly the music. I don,t see the point of killing yourself, be it Irelands troubles or the cause of Muslims who blow themselves to pieces in the light of religion. Sorry if I have upset anybody that has lost a loved one in the troubles.

Those men were treated like criminals, beaten by the screws who were loyalists on a daily basis had their food spat in taunted on a daily basis and denied their basic rights as prisoners of war! They joined the republican army after their families were kicked out of their homes and burned to the ground husbands brothers sisters fathers sons daughters dragged from their beds and taken to be interrogated and beaten even jailed without trial whether guilty or innocent! They were shot on the street's and massacred by trigger happy soldiers! They gave there lives so the future of their families and their people would be free from this tyranny of the British army who colluded with, covered for and armed protestants to slaughter innocent Catholic people to try and take their land while the world looked on and did nothing! Thatcher could have stopped it at any time but 10 men had to die before talks could take place!
