They did find a complete score for the original film, and they were able to use the notations on the score to put the film back to its original storyline. Hel was the former lover of Jon, who died giving birth to the main character, Freder. Rotwang was also in love with Hel, I think that she was Rotwang's wife. This is the first time a robot character has appeared on film.
I wasn't sure he would get the metaphors used here. People today don't really get it because everything now is so literal in film. This film is known for its Expressionism and the links to the Bauhaus Arts Movement.
