In Detroit, we had a local show called "The New Dance Show" and it was just like this hilarious.
I'm from Detroit, grew up in the 70's & 80's and don't remember that show, but I do remember the local dance show called "The Scene". I believe it was on an obscure channel like channel 20 or something. Lots of line dancing, just like this video.

I think they kept that logo up until around 1988.
@@ericandy88 On the contrary this logo was used from 1979 until 1986 when they changed it. The tagline was "Proud as a Peacock" before the others including "Be There".

I see a mixture of late 70s and early to mid 80s (1977 - 1984 ) here looking at the styles of clothes and hairstyles..i know this for sure lol I lived thru those two decades born in 1965 ..52 now..class of '83 here...the dancing is so hilarious.

We had dance lines in high school, but it was the 70's. Boys on one side, girls on the other, and one from each side boogied down the center together.
The best segment of "dance avenue" on the fallon show was when they do a song that says "Doin Lines". There's no official version of this one on CZcams. THUMBS UP though.

I can only tell for sure what the gender of one of his characters was. The 80's were a strange time. Fallon gets a gold star for making sure they all looked like they had a coke problem.

As a matter of fact, it almost accurately portrayed what Soul Train was like in the early to mid 1980s. Judging by the "Just Watch Us Now" jingle, it was supposed to portray late 1982/early 1983.
